F/U to T&P needed

Hey ladies. Sorry my original post was so vague. I was really upset and in a rush to write it out. Anyway, here's the deal:

With the oil spill in the Gulf getting worse, DH was told by his boss that his company could possibly lose 1/2 of their employees by tomorrow. He works for a ship docking, loading/unloading port and they are hardly getting any boats because of the oil and drilling moratorium. DH and I are very worried that he might lose his job tomorrow. He is having a meeting with his supervisors and the big wigs tomorrow to find out how they are going to handle this situation.

DH does have some other options for full time work, but nothing that pays as well as his current job. Plus he's supposed to be going back to school in August and we are going to be paying OOP for that.

I'm just a little freaked out and peeved about this whole situation. It's even worse because I feel like I have no control over anything that happens and our well being is at stake. Not just our financial well being, but also our home, because we live about 60-70 from the coast off Louisiana. It's a very scary situation to be facing, but I'm praying that everything works out in our favor.

  • Ugh, I am so sorry you guys are going through this with the oil spill and it possibly affecting DH's job. That whole situation pisses me off everytime I see it on the news but I can't imagine at all what you are going through. Let us know what the news is tomorrow but I will pray that you all don't get bad news.
  • I am really sorry girl, will keep you and your H in my T&Ps.

  • I am in the same boat. I also live in Southeastern Louisiana and not only does my husband work in the oilfied industry, my mom and dad both have oilfield related jobs. We are all on edge because of this drilling moratorium.
  • Mmfillinich, I see it says you are from Thibodaux, do I know you?

And thanks ladies, I really appreciate it! DH just told me that his boss thinks it will be somewhat of some good news tomorrow, but I'm still very nervous. I keep thinking of our house we are moving into tomorrow and our children and it just freaks me out to think of not being able to properly care for them.

  • Oh ladies, I am crossing my fingers for you that everything works out ok!

  • Kellie,

I don't think so. I am originally from the Larose/Cut Off area. I've been living in Thibodaux for about 2 years.
