Keeping track of schedules

How do you and your hubby coordinate your calendar/schedules? Do you write everything down in one place? Do you use a service like Google calendar or leave notes on the fridge? Do you have an iphone app you recommend? TIA!

Re: Keeping track of schedules

  • We used Google calendar for a bit, but then it just got hard b/c I keep track of everything in my daily notebook/planner thingy and on my work calendar - so putting stuff in 3 places got to be too much.  Plus, MH forgets what I tell him roughly 30 seconds after I tell him Smile.  So I'm the cruise director, and I remind him of appts every day leading up to that appt.  Probably, once there's more than just the 2 of us, I'll use some Master Calendar in the kitchen or something.
  • Generally we use the calendar in the kitchen, but if it's something that takes place during work hours (like us needing to take the boys to the doctor for a check up or whatever), I'll send him an Outlook meeting request to make sure he leaves work. Stick out tongue

Google calendar for us. And I use the Google Calendar Sync application to sync my work calendar (on Outlook on my work laptop) to Google calendar, so we have everything in one place.

  • I generally maintain our calendars. I add it on my outlook and send him calendar invites on his bberry. He still forgets though so I  still need to verbally remind him if something is coming up.
  • google calendar!  it's easier for me than him b/c i use google calendar at work too, so I can see both my work and personal calendars at the same time.  he needs to remember to check our calendar (uses outlook at work), so half the time, i just remind him.  but at least he remembers to add stuff, etc. so it is all in one place.  whether he looks at it or not afterwards is his problem, haha.

  • We're low tech...we have a paper calendar (two year) that we write things in...his are in blue ink, mine are in red, Libby's in green and family stuff (all of us) in black.  We just add things as they come up and tell the other person.  Then it's their responsibility to note it in their own personal calendar (I have a pocket sized one in my purse and a desk calendar at work).  It works well for us.  Our BFFs do somethings similar using the calendaring system on the Mac.
  • We use Google Calendar, too.

I really like that they have a feature to make other calendars that you can share with other people. So, I have my own personal stuff. Another calendar for me and hubs. And another calendar with my sister for babysitting days. If I click on all three of my calendars, then all my appts will show up all together.

  • Google calendar.

But does anyone else have the problem of syncing with the iPhone?  Some of the stuff I input online doesn't sync and it's SO annoying!

  • The last time I checked, there wasn't an app yet for Google Calendar so I saved a link to our calendar on my iphone, which was such a pain because I had to re-login most of the time and it was soooo slow. Good to know that there is now an app!

I'm curious if anyone has had problems too....

  • I have an old school planner. I love it!!! My H uses google calendar with work. He doesn't keep a personal calendar. I keep track of all of the household stuff... from bills to appointments... to social events. People have made fun of my planner for years b/c I have ultra-tiny perfect handwriting (I use an archival micro-point pen). There is something about the familiar look of my script that makes me comfortable. I also think the act of writing it down makes me remember it. I can't see anything taking its place.
