Anyone have thoughts/comments on what you've read so far?
S&D2HI - start thinking about what you might want to pick for the next book and let me know sometime this week and I'll post it at the check in next week so we can all buy it or get it from the library over the next two weeks.

Just a couple quick thoughts...
...I'm really into the meat of the plot now, which is nice - there's a fair amount of character establishment in the beginning, and the pace has picked up now that that's finished.
...you keep waiting for the other shoe to drop with the plot development with the mayor's wife - you know it can't be that good forever.
...it would be really difficult for someone like Walter Kluger - having to become a Nazi but having a Jew as a lifelong friend. I suppose there were quite a few people in this position - it would be so, so difficult.
...the book Max makes for Leisel! Adorable!
ACK! Must catch up to you! I don't know what part I'm in....4 maybe?
ETA: I'm in part 5 now. I'm always so scared when Liesel is at the mayor's wife's house. There are so many things happening where I'm just waiting for something awful to happen.....
I admit - I already finished the book. I had 14 hours of traveling to do on Saturday and couldn't stop myself from reading the book. Don't worry though, my comments will only be for the section at hand. (Part 4-6 right?)
- I liked that Death described himself, for example, "I only wear a hooded black robe when it's cold".
- It was so sweet of Max to make that book for her. I love the relationship between Liesel and Max... both have their issues, both have seen more than any person ever should have to but both are still compassionate and kind.
- Viktor Chemmel is scary and I don't like him at all.

I've started the book, but I'm not that far in. After everyone recommended "The Help," I've picked that up and haven't been able to put it down. =T Hopefully will pick up on it soon!

Don't feel bad. I, too, have started, but am not that far in. I had 5 houseguests this past weekend, and my last shower, which didn't allow much reading time. I am free and clear this whole week, though, so I bet I'll be almost done in the next few days.
I can say that so far I'm intrigued by the whole concept of Death telling this story. It's not at all what I expected, but I like it so far.
Having just finished "The Help" after the ladies' recommendation... I completely understand why you can't put it down. Such a good book!
Oh and for next months book, if you could release the name within the next week or so, that would be awesome! I'm in the U.S. right now so it'll be much easier for me to pick up the book. If not, no biggie, I can always get it on Amazon.
No probs, I'll make a separate post.
And now I'm really intrigued and may need to read The Help!
I finished the book over a week ago, and because there was a waiting list for it, I didn't want to extend my return date and have returned it to the library.
With all that said, I don't remember what part is what! I don't want to say too much, but I love Max, I hate Viktor and Liesel is one special girl. As I was reading and the more Death revealed, I wished Liesel would just kiss Rudy already! He is a great and loyal friend, we should all have a Rudy (lol Jesse Owens) in our lives.
