I took my rings in to the original jeweler yesterday and we decided that it might not be worth it to keep getting it fixed. The jeweler I spoke with on my lunch yesterday told me that the problem will get worse over time and it will never really be fixed and they original jeweler agreed.
They are letting me pick out a new set/ring of equal value to replace the original problem one if I want. This is the one I have picked out currently (it's really not that huge looking in person):

I can keep my original band with this one which I like. They have this ring on hold for me until Friday.
This is my second choice. I wouldn't keep my original band though (again doesn't look as big in person):

They are also having a diamond sale that Friday where they will have a few hundred extra settings I can choose from also so I will check that out before making a final decision.
I'm really happy that they are willing to work with me. The manager there was great and very understanding.
Re: Ring Update
If you are looking for opinions, I like the first one better. I like how it looks sharp and clean.
I'm glad that they were helpful and willing to help you find a solution.
They are not letting me keep the original diamonds. The first ring would be an upgrade for sure. We're hoping they make an even exchange with the more expensive one. I'm checking out their additional display on Friday to see if there's anything else that I like for the price. If I find something that's more money, Nick said that's okay just don't go crazy.
Glad that they are working with you. Do either of these settings look similar to what you currently have? I like the first one better too.
Also, just curious - why aren't they letting you keep your original diamonds?
LOVE the first one.
My H would love the 2nd one. He is all about the bling and sparkle.
But I think the first one is GORGEOUS, and the second one is blah.
The second one actually looks fairly similar to mine. Ha.
This is close to mine but with a 6 prong setting holding the center diamond. I think I would trade it for that first one you have listed...
They look sort of similar, but not really close. I'll see if there's something better this Friday.
In order to exchange for a new one I have to give back the defective one we originally paid for. If I kept the old ones, I would have to pay out of pocket for a new one. I guess I don't see the big deal. Am I missing something? Do other jewelers do it differently? To me it's like exchanging a piece of clothing, I have to return the one that's defective to get a new one, I can't keep both. I don't think they would let me keep the old one and give me a brand new, different one for free. Should I fight for that?
They should use your old diamonds and just put them in a new setting. Not give you completely new (different) diamonds. That's what I would want anyway.
Haha. The first one is actually more flashy because it's bigger. On my hand the 3 diamonds cover the entire top of my ring finger The second one is smaller than it looks in person. I mean it's sparkly and wide, but all of the diamonds are smaller. The 3 center diamonds look small IMO when you see if up close.
Right. My H thinks that more diamonds = better. I think bigger diamonds = better. lol.
Eh, the setting isn't meant to be in any other setting. The original looks like this:
It would be difficult to put those 4 in the center into something else and have it look nice. It's just a poorly designed ring. Stupid me for picking it out, I know. Lesson learned.
Oh, yeah if my ring was like that then I would trade them in. I was thinking you had diamonds that would fit into the settings that you are picking out.
I see what you're saying. We had talked about putting a big one in the center, but that wouldn't work either with the way it's designed.
Yeah, your previous stones wouldn't really work in another setting.
For my ring, we bought the diamond separate from the setting. So, if I ever had to replace the setting, I'd want to keep the diamond. That's why I was asking.
Gotcha. Yes, I would do the same thing. Have fun picking out a new ring! I would take your DH's advice and spend a little more while you have the chance!
Hehe. Me too.
I probably will. I am seriously second guessing myself on all the rings I have picked out. ALL of them are more than what he originally spent. I know he wants me to be happy, I just feel guilty for some reason.
You know how much he spent? Mine won't tell me. I just guestimate.
Haha. Yep. The original receipt is stapled to my warranty papers. It's not a big secret between us. I picked out the set originally so I had an idea anyway.
I know how much mine was. We have the receipt and I had to know to add it to our homeowner's policy.
WOP: are the center stones connected or are they just held together?

The center stones are not connected.
