*Kendra* + other ATL and/or NW GA nesties

Long story short, my MIL is transferring her house to us.  (I use the word 'house' loosely.  It's more like a rustic cabin in the middle of the woods that would make a perfect set for a horror movie, but I digress...) It's been uninsured for years and the first thing we want to do is get some sort of insurance.

I talked with my agent here in Minnesota, but he said I'll need to find someone in Georgia to help with this.

Do you have any insurance agents and/or companies you'd recommend?

She's about 1-1.5 hours northwest of Atlanta, if it makes any difference.

Also, we may be heading down there sometime this summer.  Possible GTG?

Wait, is this a Friday the 13th reference?

The place seriously scares the hell out of me.  As in, I cried myself to sleep the one and only time I slept there.  Lol

  • I have no suggestions, I am not from the area.  But if you ladies do something in the late summer, let me know!  Jeremy will be back in Georgia for more training for another six months, and I drive through ATL on my way to see him.  He's at Fort Gordon, which is close to Augusta.  I am trying to do some traveling to see him before I get too big that it will be a pain to drive myself and our two dogs for visits (plus the army kind of sucks on giving them passes to see family during training, pregnant or not)!
  • State Farm or Farm Bureau are good insurance agents. We use Farm Bureau  it has the best rates that we found when buying our house and new cars!

    Is it in the Mountains?

Yes to  a get together this summer also! I'm about 1.5 from ATL

  • Where in NW Ga? I say this because my father lives in the Dalton/Flintstone/Ringgold Area and he could get some agents name or whatever you needed! and totally YES to a get together! I am only like 2 hours away from ATL
  • It's in Polk County - not sure how close that is to the area you mentioned.

I'll let you ladies know when (and if) I can get the H to commit to a date!

The only downfall is that it would likely be during the week, or at least a Sunday, since I have weddings every weekend.  Unless of course we can get some specific times in August to work, then we'd be able to take advantage of a full weekend.

  • I'm down!  Just let us know  when. We already have a July 10th GTG scheduled.

It could be a great house to rent out. People here love renting cabins in the mountains.

The rental idea is a good one.  During Christmas break 2007, the ILs rented a cabin around Morganton, GA.  I call it the trip from hell for different reasons (I got a cold/virus and felt like I was dying), but I noticed that I was able to sleep even though it was creepy dark.  I am still amazed by that.

I don't live in GA, but I second State Farm for insurance.  They've treated me well while I've had them.
