Anyone familiar with Blue Ridge, Big Canoe, Elijay, Dahlonega?

We have been looking at cabins in these areas as a weekend getaway, but haven't been to any of them yet. Looking for some place on/near water (lake, creek) more so than mountain views.

Any input would help.

TIA

  • We go for the mountain views, but I know of Lake Blue Ridge that has cabins around it.
  • If you're more interested in the water, then check out Lake Burton. It definitely has the old "lake town" feel.

  • I stayed in a cabin in Outlaw Ridge (close to Blue Ridge) in March and had a GREAT time. The river was easy to walk down to but I'm not sure if its swimable. The cabin itself was beautiful and it had wonderful amenities. My DH and I stayed with a group of friends (8 of us total). We cooked all our meals (loved the kitchen!!) and BBQd on the grill. We had a wonderful time and we plan to go back again in the fall and stay in the same cabin. Here's a link to where we stayed.

  • Try Vogel State Park - they have cabins you can rent right on the lake - plus tons of hiking (granted, it is more Young Harris/Hiawassee, but more gorgeous than Ellijay/Blue Ridge)
