Kitchen hand towels/dish cloths?

Can you girls recommend yours- where did you get them?

I bought a pack of the "bar towels" from Sam's club a while back to replace my use of paper towels in the kitchen.  Well, Im not really liking them.  I use bleach and the stains from wipe ups dont come out, and I always seem to find my hair all over them (even though I was these towels separately from everything else).

Another complaint I have is that after the first wash of dish towels (not the ones above), they seem to shrink and lose their shape, and are scratchy and dont absorb very well.

Any suggestions?

  • I've gotten some from Walmart and not had any problems but I don't know what brand.

When you use bleach could you use sponges instead of towels?

Thanks, I will check out walmart next time I go :)

I use bleach only when I wash them in the washer-to clean them.  I cant use bleach to clean with, the fumes are too much and Im clumsy- my clothes always get ruined when I do use it :(

  • Okay. I thought you meant when you cleaned the kitchen that you used bleach.

Maybe you can use another brand or type of bleach? I think they have bleach that is color safe or doesn't cause fading or something like that.

I don't use bleach to clean so that could just be what bleach does (I have no clue)

Sorry, I wasnt very clear on that.  The towels are white, so fading doesnt matter.  Next time Im at Walmart I will check out what they have :)

  • Another thing I thought of could you spray the stain with a strain remover or whatever that stuff is called and then wash with bleach like normal?

i know i dont display mine i just fold them up and keep them in a cabinet that is close to reach. and i dont care if they get stained or not.

  • My dish towels are the ones I registered for, from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. They are Calphalon brand and I know they still have them. I love them!
