PIP: What is going on with this?

This is a jalepeno pepper plant, I am thinking it is not exactly in the best shape, but don't know what to do to it, especially considering I don't know what is wrong with it! (sorry for pic quality, used my cell)

Any help is appreciated!

Re: PIP: What is going on with this?

  • Are you talking about the chomp out of the leaf?  Looks like some bugs got to it, but the new leaves are fine so I wouldnt worry about that.

Peppers need a TON of sunlight.  Is it in a spot with full sun?

LOL at chomp, I could only imagine as I read it, my toddler approaching it and eating it, LOL.

Anyhow, it's that and that same leaf is wrinkly and curling up into itself.

You said the newer leaves look better, would it help/hurt to clip that leaf off?

  • I have recently learned that snails and caterpillars are mostly responsible for this big chomps!  Check your stems and leaves and dispose of both immediately.  Snails do most their damage at night, so they're hard to catch in the act.  Usually, you will see them early in the morning though, and they hide beneath the soils surface.

    Good luck to you!

Wait, so I need to get rid of the plant, or just clip it down or what? I'm so confused!

  • By "dispose of both" I meant dispose of the snails and caterpillars.  The plant should still be fine.
