Im starting to get comfortable using my sewing machine
Yay me! I have made a few dishmats so far and hope to make some pillows this weekend.
Have you made anything with your machine?
Re: Sewing- *Heather*
I haven't made anything. The last time I tried to use my sewing machine I got some fabric stuck in it and then the needle fell in and then when I had to take the bobbin out to get it something fell out. Needless to say it took me about a week to get it all back together.
I really got to get back to try to sew again. I am thinking about taking a class at Joann's as I want to start making things, especially when we have a baby.
I want to see what you made. Glad that you are getting comfortable with your machine.
How are you doing with your cricut?
Oh that sucks, I totally understand how frustrating it is! The class sounds like a good idea. I cant afford that, Im just going to wing it
Trial and error LOL!
I made 2 dishmats. My second looks WAY better (I sewing it differently and made it more quilted). I gave that one to my Mom though. Here's the 1st one I made:
It's fabric on the top, and a towel on the bottom. I got the 2 different fabrics from Walmart (Im in love with it!), and bought a towel on sale at Target, in white and it said it was a fast drying towel. I can make 3 dishmats per towel.
I took a break from the cricut, but should get back to it this weekend to make a birthday card for SIL!
That is cute! Good job.
Right now mine will probably be trail and error until we get money for a class
Im thinking about maybe selling them on etsy (after some more practice).
Trial and error (and courgae to jump in) took me forever, but Im comfortable now, even if my projects arent perfect yet!
I highly recommend a disappearing fabric pen (I used it to draw straight lines for my machine to follow). I got it at Walmart.
eta* And, thank you!!
Straight lines are my problems so I will look for that pen.
I think you should give it a shot, what does it hurt to try? You might have a little bit of money to start up but if you find good deals you won't have a lot of money invested. You should try it.
I told George I am thinking about doing some crafts and selling on Esty just to make a little extra cash. My problem is I am not confident in my stuff and so I am not sure if anyone would buy it. I thought about doing sets of cards with envelopes, different cards, maybe some frames and even some onsie's and tutu's.
Yes, love the pen- I cant sew straight lines either- its hard to see for me. I might do the etsy thing (I might ask your advice if I decide to do it if you dont mind!).
I love your cardmaking, and the baby stuff is so precious
Get confident, you have nothing to be worried about!!! Jump in and just have fun with it.
Thank you
And, yes it is!
