Pelosi wants another stimulus
Re: Pelosi wants another stimulus
Did they ever prove that the first one worked? Did it do anything at all for the economy? From what I can remember, economic data have just gotten worse since the beginning of the year. Why would she recommend this????
::banging head on desk::
OMG, no!
Especially because the economy is actually so poor that we really need more money than they can give us!

Of course we don't need one! I think the Dems will all propose one but I don't think it will get passed before the election. I think they'll use it as a campaign issue - as if that is a reason to vote them back in.
We'll see.....

Pelosi said a stimulus package would create jobs by investing in public works, increasing food stamps benefits and extending unemployment insurance for the long-term jobless. She said lawmakers need to "hunker down" and look closely at the federal budget for possible savings, and reconsider whether the U.S. can afford to fight "a war without end" in Iraq.
Simply handing out checks, IMO, isn't going to do much. But it is all those little things, like the extended UE or the the increased food stamp benefits, that seem important. The govt. is attempting to do the polar opposite of what the govt did during the great depression, so they are pumping money into the system. Whether the money ::actually:: exists or not. I don't think the stimulus package is a terrible idea.
The article said she would try to pass it after the election not before. And if Obama gets elected it could happen next year if it fails this year.
Of course we may have some angry lame duck Republicans after the election who will vote for it!
My relationship with Pelosi is
now.
I think that we should give each family enough money to buy a house cash in their area.
That way, no one would be foreclosed on anymore.
See, I just killed two birds with one stone. I stimulated and stopped to foreclosure crisis in one fell swoop. I should be president
Here's a vote for President Dev!?
