Baby Boom?

Is anyone else witnessing a baby boom happening right now? Maybe it's just because of my age or where I'm at in life, but I feel like every time I log into facebook, someone is posting pictures of their newborn and/or announcing the sex of their baby and/or announcing they are preggo.

For example, in the past six weeks, I've seen/heard about:

-- Six baby boys being born

-- Two baby girls being born

-- One couple finding out they're having a boy (in October)

-- One couple finding out they're having twin boys (in September)

-- One couple about to give birth to a baby girl (due next week)

-- One couple about to give birth to a baby boy (three days late)

That count doesn't include any Nesties, either.

Anyone else seeing a baby boom?

Re: Baby Boom?

  • OMG YES.

I think I may freak out if I hear someone else getting KU. Just in the past couple of months I think my entire graduating class got pregnant. Some their first, some their third. Holycrap, there is something in the water, right? I feel like a minority!

But in about an hour I find out if my bff is having a boy or girl. Squeee!

  • There is one going on around here.

Two couple both had twin boys a few weeks ago.

Another couple had triplets (two boys and a girl).

    Somebody just had a boy.

An ex-CW is having a little girl in a few weeks.

BSC CW is having a baby in November.

I know there are more, I just can't think of them off the top of my head.

  • Definitely... but its just the age we are... seems like pretty much everyone I know between the age of 25 and 35 is either pregnant, TTC, or already has kid(s).
  • It's a drought!  I can count on one hand the number of people I know who even have children (and only 1 of them lives in this state, the rest are ex-friends from HS).  I know one girl from HS who is pregnant.  That's it.
  • Oh, and apparently someone had a baby named Carson from the crazy status update post below, lol.

  • Yes, but its largely an age related thing for those that I know.  All the parents are in their late twenties/early 30s and are in a good point in their lives to have kids.  There have been so many on FB that I don't even count anymore.  In our first year of marriage we found out 4 of our 5 combined siblings were expecting...that pretty much sums up how prevalent the babies have been.  My bff is doing invitro next month too (you all may recall my posting about her miscarriage about 6 months before the wedding), so hopefully that will be another baby to add to the tally.

  • I was actually starting to think the same thing and so glad its not just me noticing this lately.  A lot of our graduating class has been announcing that they are pregnant or just had kids within the past few weeks/months.  I feel like a minority... is DH and I crazy for wanting to have 3-5 years of marriage on our own before having kids?

  • Yeah the baby boom is fun, but have y'all been noticing quiet divorces on facebook?  I've noticed a few friends where the wedding album was deleted, the name changed back, and the relationship status was altered or deleted.

I can accept babies, but these divorces are freaking me out!

  • I think I've seen four divorces this year - people married just a year or two.

Last week I found out about a status change from "Married" to "It's Complicated" -- they were married THREE WEEKS AGO. Apparently she's cheating on him and the other man sent her flowers. IDK. Messed up. THREE WEEKS.

    WHAT?!?!

Why do people like this even get married? Did she think it was expected? Did she do it for financial security? I just don't get it...

I haven't noticed any quiet divorces, but I have noticed some quiet break-ups/called off engagements.

  • The 3 weeks thing is crazy.  Holy cow.

I've noticed a couple divorces/called off engagements.  There was a called off engagement just Friday, actually.  Quite a few of my IRL friends are on marriage #2 already...I was the slowpoke lagging behind in getting to #1.

They are spot on with the divorce statistics, don't mean to make it sound like they aren't.  I think it, unfortunately, comes with being well into our 30s now.

  • The baby thing? Some of us may or may not have planned it so we have the summer off. ;) I have definitely seen some relationship drama go down but mames, that one takes the cake!

  • TONS of babies lately!  Agreed.
  • Something is definitely in the water! My bro and his gf have a baby boy due next week!! I am soooo excited!!!

Then one of my bridesmaids is expecting, and pretty much everyone else from my high school class is currently pregnant or has a newborn.

  • What happens when the divorce boom hits after the baby boom? Sad

I know of one couple with a baby who is close...

  • I work in an OB/GYN's office i would definitely say there has been a baby boom... we have had SO many new OB patient come in lately.. and we have alot that are very close to delivery! Lots of little ones!
  • and of course multiple friends.. and my sister too! I'm going to be an aunt of two little ones.. I have a 3yr old nephew and a niece due in october! :) I have been busy making bows for her!
  • Just saw my first "quiet divorce notification via facebook" today. Perhaps we should quit talking about these things. We're apparently the Witches of Eastwick.
