One of my employees had a baby yesterday! Her daughter was born last night (around 6 pm). She worked yesterday until 5, the hospital is about 30 minutes away and she apparently just got there and it was time to push.
The funny part of this story is apparently her water broke while she was at work! It broke, she thought she peed on herself (yes, seriously, she has told us all that's what she thought happened because she'd been doing that a lot lately and always brought two or three changes of clothes to work, just in case), and she stayed at work for 3 hours after it happened!
My mom said "Wow, you guys are hard core, making people work in labor like that..." obviously we had no clue what ws happening and neither did she.
AND just so all of you mommies can truly hate this girl - she said her contractions didn't even hurt - she didn't even know she was having them. All she had was a little soreness in her back.
Re: Funny story
Wow! I know that i didn't know I was having any when we originally went to the hospital. You better believe I knew they were there after my water broke. She's a trooper!
that is kind of scary - what if she hadn't gone to the hospital ? you might have had to deliver the baby right there in your office. I'm glad it worked out though and she had an easy labor.
I had a friend who basically had the same thing happen, they delivered her in the lobby of the hospital, she had no idea she'd been in labor for the better part of the day, her water had broken in the shower.
We had actually joked about what we would do if her water broke at work (luckily we have an employee who was a L&D nurse previously although she was off yesterday).
She said that she went home and was telling her mom about how she "couldn't stop peeing" on herself earlier and she didn't even think she needed to pee when it was happening and her mom was like "Um, we need to go to the hospital."
This kind of sounds like my mom... with all three of her children, her labor was insanely easy. The hospital was 20 minutes' drive and by the time she got there with my sister, her head was out.
This completely brought to mine the scene in Pretty Woman where she's eating snails and they just pop out all of a sudden. "Slippery suckers." LOL
Jo, not that I mean to freak you out or anything, but earlier this week I read a post by a girl on the bump (it was linked from another board) who apparently slept through her baby's birth - and there were no doctors or nurses in the room with her. She just woke up and the baby was on the bed between her legs.
But I'm sure that won't happen to you!
