Today is the last day of school for my students. One of my favorite parts about my job is today. I still get that excitement I had when I was 12. In honor of it being the "last day" :
What was your favorite part of the last day of school as a child?

Re: Last Day of School Poll
Mmm... I was a dork and was always excited to buy my Summer Reading books & start reading them. My E.S. has Summer reading requirements from grades 3-8.
One of my favorite things about Summer in general when I was a kid were slumber parties during the week! The mother of one of my best friends was a SAHM during the Summer (she worked at a preschool & got the summer off) so we could always have big slumber parties at her house anytime. Those were always fun!
I loved how our neighborhood had constant activity during the summers - I lived in a cul de sac and many neighbors took down their fences when they went bad instead of replacing them b/c we all played in all of the yards anyway. We'd play 4 square, basketball, baseball, hide n seek at night, and anything really. Often in the evenings the adults would congregate somewhere and talk while we were all running around :-)

We were allowed to spray shaving cream all over our desks and "finger paint" in the shaving cream.
Apparently it does something to help them clean the desks or something?? I always thought they were just being nice to us but I guess they were really putting us to work!
