It was Dairy Day out at our (my Department's) Dairy Reseach and Technology Center. I volunteered with one of my co-workers! We were super busy with the 150+ farmers that came to hear the lecturers/update on research, but when we had some down time we got to play with the calves and milk the big ones!

What is your favorite childhood experience with animals?

Do you have a pet now? If yes, what is its' name?

  • What is your favorite childhood experience with animals?

When I was 9, I entered a "Pig Scramble Contest" at the local Fair. My name was pulled out of over 100 kids that had entered. I was 1 of 10, and had to run around a muddy pen and catch a piglet. I dove in the mud immediately, grabbed the piglet by its' feet and put it in the burlap bag in less than 30 seconds. My poor Mom was horrified, we got to keep the pig which we donated to a local farm.

Do you have a pet now? If yes, what is it's name?

Yes, I have a massive 16lb. raccoon aka a cat. His name is Xander (after Xander Cage in XXX- again I love Vin Diesel) and he is 4.

  • Cute cows!

What is your favorite childhood experience with animals? I rode horses until I was 14 (at which point I no longer had the time or money), so just in general everything about riding and being around horses is something that I love from my childhood.

Do you have a pet now? If yes, what is it's name? Yes! Lola is a 3 year old cocker spaniel mix who we took off the street two years ago. We are both borderline obsessed with her. You can see pictures on my blog (link in sig), just scroll down a couple posts.

  • What is your favorite childhood experience with animals? I really don't have a favorite and my most memorable isn't a good one... but I'll tell it anyways.  So my most memorable childhood experience with animals is when I was about 7 years old, I was playing around with my field hockey stick outside.  All of a sudden I was face-to-face with a stray dog.  To me, the thing looked vicious so I turned around and ran and screamed.  BAD decision.  Luckily my dad got to me before the dog did and my dad was able to calm it down with food but I learned never to run just back up slowly.

Do you have a pet now? If yes, what is its' name? Ahh our little man (of course I need to show a picture too)!  Max is a year and three months old now and we got him when he was just twelve weeks old.  We're thinking about getting him a brother or a sister sometime this year but we just have too much going on right now.  Plus, little man is such the center of attention with EVERYONE in both of our families I'm not quite sure how another dog would fit into the picture.

But this picture was taken the other night.  We're trying to see how he would do not sleeping in his crate and he decided he wanted to look like us when we were laying in bed watching TV:

  • What is your favorite childhood experience with animals? I grew up on a farm, so I have many fond memories involving animals, but I used to love playing with the baby pigs after they were just born.

Do you have a pet now? If yes, what is it's name?

We have two cats that we rescued, their names are Guy and Puppy.

  • What is your favorite childhood experience with animals?

I have so many favorite experiences with animals it's hard to pick just one. I guess I would have to say when my sister and I used to dress up our pet dog when we were little. We would put him in our cabbage patch clothes.

Do you have a pet now? If yes, what is it's name?

I have a puppy named Guinness (yep, hubs wanted to name him after a beer) and a tortoise named Spike. I can never get the picture thing to work right so I'm just giving you ladies a link to see them instead!

  • Favorite... I had rats growing up and nothing was really eventful.  My most memorable experience was with my BFF's cat, Trotwood.  I spent a lot of time with her and her family and was spending the night one summer evening.  My dad came over to say goodnight and gave me a backrub (as was our nightly tradition).  Trotwood got upset because he thought my dad was hurting me and raced to attack my dad.  Instead of biting and clawing him, Trotwood bit my calf.  I bled a lot and it ended up getting infected.  I spent 3 weeks of the summer on crutches.  It's always great to spend your 5th grade summer on crutches and not allowed to go into the water when you live at the beach. :(

Pets... we have a chihuahua/wiener mix named daisy and a hairless cat (sphinx) named Fluffy.  We also have three fish in a 150 gallon saltwater tank along with corals and such.  I also have a brother, if he counts as a pet.  Here's pictures of when Daisy and Fluffy first met eachother and of Fluffy getting her weekly bath.  Yes, I know Fluffy is kind of ... ugly.  She has a special charm that grows on you.  She has taken to liking to sleep on my chest or like a football under my arm, which makes H very jealous.

  • My brother and I always had some kind of animal in the house. He had a fish named Freddy, then my bird named Chip and then my German Shepherd-Husky mix named Tee Bone. I LOVE dogs!

DH and I used to have a dog named Smokey but we gave him to SIL in Texas and he has become the most spoiled dog on Earth! He's a pomeranian-Min Pin mix. 6 pounds of furry terror but a cutie pie at the same time! I can't get the picture thing to work, but I have an album dedicated to him on my FB page.
