wdyt?

I was discussing with Heather the other day about selling some of my sewing projects on ETSY.  I have made a few dishmats so far, and will do more this weekend.

I did a little research on ETSY last night, and couldnt find ANY dishmats being sold.  All I could find were mats for dog bowls.  SO, wdyt?  should I try selling them?  How much would you pay for one (hypothetical)?

Re: wdyt?

  • Oh my gosh, I love it! Are they waterproof? Take into account how much you spent on materials. Perhaps $10 each?
  • i love them and you can customize according to what your kitchen looks like!

how much on average do you think it would cost to make on?

Who let the dawgs out? image
  • I honestly probably wouldnt buy something like that from Etsy. Unless you could do monogramming or something to make them more personalized, I am not sure people would be willing to spend enough to make it worth it for you to sell.

Dishmats that I have seen (and I have seen the waterproof ones as well) are really only a few bucks unless you get into silk or something.

The fabric is cotton, and the towel that I apply to the underside is "fast drying"  I use mine all the time to put pots, large bowls on that I hand wash.

The fabric varies ($3-$5), and the towel I can make 2 dishmats from ($4 for one towel).  I would guess it would cost me about $5 per dishmat I think..
