XP: experiences with companies like TruGreen or Scotts Lawn Care?
Anyone have experiences, good or bad, with hiring a company like TruGreen or Scotts Lawn Care? If so , , ,
What compnay did you use?
What was your rate/was it worth it?
Would you recomend them to your best friend or your worst enemy?
I am sick of "mowing the weeds" and my DH and I do not have the time or knowledge to give our lawn the care it needs. We also have 3 dogs that don't help the matter! We will be calling around next week to get info on rates and services, Any insight would be great! TIA
Re: XP: experiences with companies like TruGreen or Scotts Lawn Care?
I have not had any lawn treatments, but a former coworker of mine said that TruGreen almost killed her lawn, and Scotts brought it back to life and made it look nice.
My dad and stepmom like Scotts too.
We are on our third year of Scotts. We had a terrible lawn. Full of clover and dandelions and now it is so much nicer. It made a big difference in the lawn. While I wish we could go without the chemicals- they really do a great job!
I pay per-treatment and it is something like $50-60 for our yard. Last year we had the core aeration and over seeding done too.
We had TruGreen and they basically destroyed our lawn last year.
DH ditched them, and decided to do all the fertilizing himself this year. It's so much cheaper, and takes him all of 10 minutes to do the whole lawn. He applies fertilizer I want to say 4 times throughout the year.
What's funny is that we've had several neighbors already ask us what we're doing differently to our lawn b/c ours is greener and thicker than many of our neighbors' lawns at this point!

It took 44 cycles, just over 3 years, 6 failed IUI's in MI, and 1 round of IVF at CCRM to get our BFP!

I know exactly how you feel. We have tried doing Scotts ourselves, but we have some invasive weeds that are too much for that and they've just gotten progressively worse. I love my gardens, but I don't have the time or interest in caring for a lawn so we decided to hire a company recently. I just got sick of looking out at what was happening to our lawn. DH looked into Scotts and TruGreen online and there were a ton of bad reviews. The last thing we need is to make what we have look worse or to pay someone to spread products that we already know don't work. We needed people that knew what they were doing.
We decided to use a local company that our neighbors use because their lawn is gorgeous and they told us that a few years ago, their lawn was as bad as ours. I was surprised by the detail of the analysis they did from weeds to diseases and soil analysis. After only 1 treatment, I can see that they've had more success that we ever did. I'd suggest looking around at smaller local companies.
We used TruGreen for about 5 years and had a great experience. Our lawn looked awesome!
It's very hard for us to get the same results ourselves for some reason. We cancelled their service to try and diy and it just doesnt' look the same to me...
They should do free estimates for you but we haggled them down pretty far at the time and the deal couldn't be beat.
