Stinky Flip flops

Okay, I bought some fantastic cobian sandals last summer, and, no that I've been wearing them for the past month, they STINK. Anyone have any tips on removing ye olde summer sweaty foot smell? My huband and co workers would deeply appreciate it! Stick out tongue

Re: Stinky Flip flops

  • one of my friends swore by a dr. scholl's foot powder, but I think she used it for her closed toe shoes...maybe it would work for flip flops too??

  • I have some, but it just causes clouds of powder to come up from my feet when I walk.

Confession: I rather stupidly tried spraying them with perfume, and now they're both stinky and floral.

LOL!  Not sure if this really works, but my mom always puts her shoes out in the sun.  What kind of flip flops do you have?  I have a couple pairs of Cobians and I haven't noticed a problem?

  • It's actually one of my two pairs of Cobians! I bought some for the wedding last year because they were the most recommended on the boards... and the pair that have a suede base are fine. It's the ones that are foamy that stink. Confused

BAHAHAHA I did this once with a pair of shoes...doesn't work nearly as well in practice as it does in theory, does it? Stick out tongue

What about baking soda? Rub some of that all over them and let them sit a while, then check the smell? I don't know if it will work, but baking soda is a pretty good deodorizer.

Yeah, not at all! Ugh, I feel so gross! I'm going to try to leave them in the sun... with baking soda... and maybe scrub them first with soap and water. Hopefully that'll do the trick.

  • My daughter has a stinky pair of slip on's,I put baking soda in them ,it worked for her shoes.

  • hahaha...i can only imagine what they smell like now after trying all of that!  i have foamy cobians too.  they take forever to dry, so i usually try to avoid getting them wet.  maybe that's why they get stinky?
