Poor DH/Paint Fail

So we decided to paint the pine dresser a sage green to match the green in the bedding and the wall art. My SIL (who's great w/ colors) recommended getting a primer with a tint of cream in it too so we did so. Because I suck at colors, I was very anal about matching the green exactly and got a good match. Well, DH sanded down the dresser then primed it and started painting. He's a perfectionist and takes a long time to paint as he wants it to look right well a) he discovered he hadn't sanded it completely smooth so the paint looked uneven and b) the paint came out looking white! So, he wasted every evening this week doing all that and I feel so bad! He never stops working (either at work or home) and won't stop till something is perfect. We're going to see if Lowes will tint the paint to the next darker shade, fingers crossed that they can but he still wants to resand the dresser because of the unevenness! Hopefully we'll get it right soon!!!

If you are priming it, it will look a little un-even...just make sure to do two coats of the sage green paint to cover it well.

Sanding furniture is a PITA!  Hope it works out.

  • Ugh, painting and sanding furniture sucks! Poor DH!

  • Thankfully he bought a sanding machine but it still looks like a pain!
  • That sucks!! Painting is such a big project! And sanding is terrible too.

Did you have the paint store match the green, using the color match computer? If you want an exact match, that's definitely the way to go. They can further tint the paint you already bought, but they can only do so much since they're not starting from scratch.
