Hi ladies!
DH and I are heading to NYC next month for a wedding. I've been looking at hotels and it's been kind of hard because I'm not exactly sure where everything is. We're going for a wedding and they are providing a bus for everyone to take from the city out to the location for the wedding. The bus will pick us up at 23rd and Lex. As I'm looking at hotels I'm seeing things like "near Times Square" and "near Rockefeller center". How close are these things to 23rd and Lex? Are there landmarks we should try to be close to?
I know we'll be able to take cabs/subway really easily to get around but I figured if we could stay close to the bus pickup area that would make things easier.
TIA!! I'm excited to see your city!
Re: Hotel locations question
I'm pretty sure that neighborhood is called Gramercy, it is near Gramercy Park.
If you pick anywhere that is near a 4/5/6 subway, you should be fine (generally, hotels on the east side will be close to this subway line). You can look up the address on googlemaps and it shows what subways are close by.
You can also use the website www.hopstop.com for subway directions. I believe google and mta.info also have subway directions available.
Rockefeller Center & Times Square are not near the location for pick up.
You will be near Grammercy area, not far from Murray Hill or Union Sq.
I can reccomend you to look up a hotel that a friend works at - it is called Mave Hotel. It's walking distance to your shuttle but if you are wearing heels, that may be a bit of a drag so you could take the subway or cab. It is a tiny boutique hotel so I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for.
It looks like there is a hotel called Grammercy Park hotel that is the closest to your shuttle pick up. If you google map "grammercy park hotel" and expand to see the streets, you'll see how close it is.
There is a W not too far on Park Ave S. but that would require a subway or cab
You could do a google map search of "hotels near East 23rd street, New York, NY" and look what comes up also.
