I am SO not a gardener but last year I planted some orange calla lillies (the same color we had in our wedding). Last year they came up and were absolutely beautiful.
This year they are coming up again and are pretty but...they are PINK. What happened to them? Does it have to do with the soil? Is this normal?
Re: Can someone explain?
I hope not...because then ALL my flowers might have identity crisises (or whatever it is) and come up the wrong colors. That would be very sad for me.
This made me LOL!!!!
I don't know much when it comes to flowers but I do know a lot of science and it sounds like a genetic thing. Somewhere down the line two flowers were crossed to get some color and therefore you can get multiple colors for instance dogs
a black and yellow lab mix to get chocolate labs but 2 chocolate labs don't mean you get all chocolate labs or any in fact you could get all yellow, all black, a mix...just depends on how the chromosomes match up!
