Not! You can suck it Phil "Mr. Zen" Jackson. Thanks for the bulletin board fodder to feed the team's spirit going into game 6! Thanks for forgetting that you are wired during those pep talks.
The Celt's were looking like a championship team last night for sure. PP could have been shooting blindfolded and still make every shot. Rondo making those crazy, impossible layups like a contortionist. KG grabbing rebounds left and right. Everyone contributing. Kobe making stink-eye at his teammates. Go ahead, Kobe, take every shot. Hee. I am feeling sorry for Bynum because he is clearly playing through pain and still being effective.
Lord, I just hope my trash talking doesn't jinx things. We need to keep the fire in the belly for one more game.
Re: "This team likes to lose in the 4th quarter."
Um, I didn't really like Phil Jackson before when he started throwing jabs at the Thunder - but now, it's just ridiculous. He keeps saying all this random crap that makes him look like an @ss.
The Celts looked awesome the last two games. I'm getting tired of people analyzing the fact that they "shouldn't have made it this far since they weren't a championship team during the season." All that doesn't matter - they beat the best teams in the East to get to this point. Clearly, they were underestimated.
I feel really, really bad for Bynum. I wonder when they'll figure out that Kobe can't do it all alone...
Am I the only one who doesn't have an issue with Jackson's comments? I don't like Phil and I really hate the Lakers, but what he said was basically true.
Even if it wasn't true, a coach is going to say what they have to in order to motivate the team. I heard him say it live, and I thought, "hmmm... yeah he's got a point." The Lakers have been playing with much more passion and fire than the Celtics, and the Lakers seemed to be finishing stronger overall.
The Celtics did have habit of blowing games in the 3rd/4th qtr, but that was in the regular season. And they have kinda shown the regular season didn't mean much to them.
They have been closing games throughout the playoffs.
I thought it was very ballsy of Jacskon to say that, when he knew he was wired because it will get posted on the bulletin board.
I think both teams were held back in terms of passion/intensity in the first 3 games due to the reffing -- too many early fouls, fouls away from the ball. The refs have done a much better job in the last two games to not hamper the flow of the game. I thought the 3rd qtr of game 5 was especially well played on both sides -- some of Kobe's shots were unbelievable and the Celtics (mainly PP) were matching him. And there was very little stoppage of play.
I know I'm late.... but ditto all of this. The worst thing about Phil's statement on Sunday nite was that he said it in such a monotone voice. Not inspiring at all.
Doc, however, is constantly losing his voice trying to motivate his guys during the game. I love listening to what Doc has to say to the team in the locker room. He is always on point and insightful. When Doc first came to the C's, I wasn't thrilled with the choice, but man have I come to eat my words in the last few seasons. I just don't like Phil's style.
