Anyone watch the Tony's last night?

What did you think? John and I are such theater nerds, but can't watch the whole thing. I think it's amazing the cross over right now of film/stage actors. I'm not surprised by some.

Then we need to discuss the fashions of the evening. Kristen Chenowith(sp?) looked AHMAZING!!!! And I loved Will Smith's tux, it's a little differnt without screaming, "I'm too cool to wear an old fashioned tux".

On a side note, one of John's classmates' shows was up for several awards last night. So he facebooked her (she wasn't nominated) and they chatted via her iphone while she's at the Tony's. He is WAY too cool for me.

Re: Anyone watch the Tony's last night?

  • I loved the Tonys. Catherine Zeta Jones looked terribly nervous during her performance and just was trying too hard. I felt terrible for her. I agree about Kristen..she was gorgeous!

Most of the other performances were just "knock your socks off" amazing! Loved it!

  • I would LOVE to go see American Idiot, it looks amazing. I have some friends who have seen it and they said it was awesome. Their performance last night was out of this world, I have two of the recordings and they didn't do the live performance justice.
I'm not a fan of musicals like "Memphis" and I'm sad it won. It's another "Mama Mia" which was "written" for baby boomers who take bus tours so they can see a Broadway show. That show belongs in a dinner theater in Palm beach.
You are right about CZJ, she looked and sounded awful. Barbara Cooke and Bernadette Peters were both there, they have both done the role on Broadway, they should have sung and she should have bowed out. She honestly sounded hoarse to me. I know she is more talented than that performance.
And finally katie Holmes, that girl is way too pretty to wear a dress that doesn't look like it fit her and her hair like she just walked out of the gym.

Oh man, I missed the American Idiot performance. I kind of dozed off during some parts. I need to YouTube that.

Katie Holmes, yes...boob muffin top is not sexy. Ew..so messed up!

Did you think Lea Michele was trying too hard in her performance? She needed to hold the microphone back an extra foot or something too...
