Janesville sucks. I posted on the WI board to find out more information about it and I guess they were hit hard by the economy going down the crapper and the crime rate has gone up. I think I'm going to need to see this place in person before I choose a place to live.
Any place that has a chain link fence around the house is not a place for me. And I'm seeing that a lot on Google street view. But we have a long commute because DH will be on call all the time. Bugger.

Re: So evidently...
Do you have to move to Janesville or can you go to one of the surrounding areas? And where would your H be commuting to? And when are you guys moving? I feel like you just moved to Miami, no?

We can't really go into a surrounding area too much because he will be on call all the time and he can't have a long commute if the hospital calls and says "Be here now." He would be commuting to the Mercy Hospital there. We'd be moving late November or sometime in December. We did just move to Miami; we've been here a month and we're out of here in two. That's how is school works - lots of (obnoxious) moving, but Janesville would be for at least two years, so kind of permanent.
And musgral - he gets a say, we could technically pick Atlanta still, but Janesville would be better for his career so that's the obvious choice.

The novel that has two pages in it and I have been stuck on ever since? Um, yeah....

Where do you go in two months? Back east?
Maybe Janesville won't be that bad...? I'm guessing the cost of living would be low, right? Plus, that's only 2 hours from the Chi!

Yeah, Janesville took a hard hit from the manufacturing going away. A lot of places here in WI took a big hit as we are mainly a manufacturing state. But it's still a smaller city than Miami and it's not Madison (too big for my taste). Good luck on whichever choice you guys make. I hear Mercy is a good teaching hospital.
Just like Noron, I will be just about 3 hours (north) from there and she's south, so your just in the middle. Great for a get together.
