Farm boxes

Anyone else get these?  We just signed up to start doing it, and I think we'll get our first box on Wednesday.

If you have no clue what I'm talking about...basically, we signed up to get a box of produce from a local farm.  We'll be getting it every other week, and it'll be filled with whatever is in season.  We can tell them up to five items that we never want to receive...for example, we'll never touch brussels sprouts, so we won't be given those.  And we can sub out certain things...like, if we decide that we'd rather have broccoli instead of collard greens.

DH's brother and SIL have been doing this for years and love it.  We're hoping that it'll actually motivate us to eat more fresh fruits and veggies!

Re: Farm boxes

  • What a great idea! I'll have to see if there's anywhere around here that does that.
  • Caroline, the place where I went strawberry picking with DH's bro and SIL is actually the farm where they get their boxes from....so it's near your parents.  I'm not sure how far away they'll drop the boxes, but BIL and SIL live in Castro Valley.

Do you want me to ask them the name of the farm?

  • Sure, that would be great! We're closer to that place that Castro Valley so I'm sure they would ship to us!

We did it once, bc we were given a gc for it.  Yours sounds awesome, we couldnt pick our items of choice!
  • we use to do that here but we stopped doing it just simply because we were not eating the veggies in time and they were spoiling. we enjoyed it when we were eating them in enough time.
