Spaghetti - share your recipe
Everyone does it differently. How do you make your spaghetti sauce? With meat, without, jar sauce, homemade? Share!
Re: Spaghetti - share your recipe
I use canned tomato sauce (I make the Sams Club 6lb cans at a time), and saute garlic and onions in olive oil, adding basil, oregano and parsley. I don't measure. Sometimes I add a couple pinches of sugar to take off some of the tomato tartness (I think that's a good way to describe?).
Really simple, but everyone loves it. I can't eat jar/store bought spaghetti sauce, it's even rare I find a restaurant with marinara sauce I can stomach, just because it's usually sugary.
ETA: I usually never make it with meat. I think in my whole time making it I've only added meat once or twice. Though recently we discovered textured vegetable protein, and I've been subbing it for ground meat, and I loved it in my sauce. So it's an added option as of recent.
I normally make a pretty big pot (to freeze for later) and we like it spicy!
1/2 pound of ground turkey
1/2 pound of sliced hot turkey sausage
1/3 of each sauce : Prego traditional sauce, Hunt's zesty & spicy sauce and Classico tomato and basil sauce.
I also add a cup or two of chopped onion, red and green peppers.
Tablespoon of minced garlic.
