Shakespeare in the Park

Has anyone ever gotten through the hassel of getting the free tickets to go? Every summer I want to, but don't follow through with it. They're giving tickets out in Queens, one time for each play. I'm going to try to remember to go.

Re: Shakespeare in the Park

  • First time reading through the boards, and new to the nest, but had to reach out for this one!

We went last summer, and it was so fun. Anne Hathaway was one of the leads, and I have so much more respect for her seeing her perform live with the other amazing performers. I took off July 2nd, and made it to Central Park by 6am to wait in line, and brought with me food, reading material, and rain gear. I'm not sure how early you'd have to be there in Queens, but I couldn't believe how many people were there by 6. I'd say definitely go for it! My husband (hehe) and I are planning to go again this year. Do you know which plays are featured this year?

  • We went last summer and it was AMAZING.  It was such a great night.  I have to make a confession though:

I was too pregnant to wait in line and dh had to work so we paid someone to wait in line for us Embarrassed

  • If you're getting tickets in Central Park, you need to get there at around 6am and wait around all day.  Can be fun but can also be torture.  Go to the day when they give it out in the boroughs.  I waited with my father in Staten Island last year and got tickets, no problem.  They actually had a ton left over.  And you don't have to get there as early.

I would love to go too.  When and where?  Sign me up.  P.S. As long as I am in town, I'd be willing to wait in line for myself and anyone else.

  • I can usually score a few free tickets (sans waiting in line) through work and friends who work at the Public.  Lots of people pay other people to wait in line for them.  You can also do a daily online auction through the Public?s Shakespeare in the Park website: http://www.shakespeareinthepark.org/?nav=vtix

It is always a great time!

  • Hmm, sounds interesting. Maybe I will try for this.
