stupid work name change

So my work changed my e-mail to my new name pretty quick.  So i started giving out my new one.  Turns out that the name on the e-mail changed but not the address.  Every thing has been change except on.  Though I do stillhave to change my I-9 form but I need my license and that has yet to come.

A nother name issue.  I think I changed it too fast.  I changed it at the docotrs office so my new meds have my new name on it but i don't have the medical card with my new name.  i am nervous to go to the pharmacy to see if I can even get them. They are refills so I might not need them for a month or so.  So I could get the cards by then I hope.  I know others are have issues too.  Anyone have any with the docs offfice?

Re: stupid work name change

  • No words of wisdom, I'm afraid. I'm still waiting on my insurance cards through HH's employer, too. They swear that I was covered beginning June 1st, but I want to know why we got our vision and dental right away but are still waiting on my medical... grr.
  • I would think as long as you have your old picture id and your new picture id with both your names on them and your medical card you should be fine.  Your subscriber # should not be changing so they should still be able to submit any claims or fill prescriptions.
  • I checked and it should be submited today and then get to medical next week and then the cards will be shipped out.  I don't have my license yet so i guess i will have to wait though they did say the could check with my ss and my birth date if i really need it.
  • I had to change my name with ss before I could change it on anything else. Once it was changed with them I was able to get my DL and so on. I was added to HH's insurance so my new name was on my new medical card. I told the pharmacy about getting married and gave them my new card, I didn't have any problems with them.

  • I strongly recommend you start with changing your SS card, then your DL, then everything else from there.  It makes the process of changing everything else smoother.  Note I said smoother - not perfect.  I think you'll run into few issues like Sarah is having if you start at the top and work your way down.

I have heard stories from various resources about the challenges of changing our names in so many places.  But the one that sticks with me is when the SS office told someone that by getting her driver's license changed before her SS information, she has now created and alias that is tracked in the government's system, as an alias, from now on.  I don't know if that's true or not, but it's just scary enough to have the SS office on the top of my list.

Kelly - if there are separate insurance companies for the different lines of coverage, then it may be the insurance companies that are holding up your ID cards.  I work in HR, and this is a typical issue that arises since we have separate companies that provide our health and dental.  My additions of my husband and stepson were processed on the same date for both health & dental, but my cards came several days apart.

  • I'm not changing my name on anything until I have my new DL and SS card. I just don't want any mix ups! I only changed at work because it's my family business and I was in charge of all of the IT stuff so I did my signature and whatnot the monday after the wedding :)

  • I did get my ss card last week that's how I changed my stuff at work.  The DL should come this week.  I guess i got name changing happy :)
  • Sorry Sarah.  I misunderstood - or more likely, I just assumed, cuz I'm really good at making an 'ass' out of myself.
  • The medical card shouldn't matter - you should still be able to get your prescriptions. ?

  • It's not an issue at the pharmacy.  I'm a pharmacist, just tell them when you drop off your prescriptions that you've recently changed your name.  Should be fine :) Good luck
