Moving to ATL

Hi Ladies,

I'm new to The Nest, and my DH and I will be moving to Atlanta by the end of summer!! We live in Annapolis  Maryland right now, and although i love snow I'm really excited to be closer to family ( We're both Fl. Gators), and back in the south!

I'm really excited that this board is so active! I can't wait to be a part of your community/e-community!!

Re: Moving to ATL

  • Welcome! Rule numero uno: Live where you work. Traffic is a b!tch to get around.

Let us know what areas you're looking at moving to and we'll help give you what information we can on them.

IMHO, stay out of Clayton County (on the south side of I-285). I lived/grew-up there and it's gone downhill fast. I personally love the North side of I-285.

  • We are in love with the Virginia Higlands area and have a friend that lives in that area already, so we're really hoping to find a house there.

Thanks for the warm welcome btw :)

  • Welcome! I moved to Georgia from Maryland a little over a year ago and love it!
  • Welcome, I live in Midtown and love living in Atlanta.

Virginia Highlands is a great intown neighborhood. I live nearby and would love to live there if we could afford it! Some other nearby neighborhoods to consider are Candler Park, Inman Park, and Decatur. They are all in the northeast quadrant of town and are zoned for some of the better schools, if that's important to you.

Let me know if you have any questions about the area! Best of luck!

  • Hi!  I'm with you in being new around here except it looks like we'll be there before you arrive.  We actually have to move within the month, but I'm pretty excited too!  I moved from MI and have only been in the South since Oct, so I'm with you in loving the snow, but it's definitely nice to not have to worry about it down here!

It sounds like we'll be on opposite ends (we'll be on the SE side) but it's nice to meet another newbie!
