Hi ladies! I posted here a few months back about moving to Baton Rouge from Raleigh, NC and the time has finally come! Tomorrow is my last day of work and we are heading south on Sunday.
We found a little rental house off Highland Road about 4 miles south of LSU, where my husband will be working. I'm still looking for a job and trying to remain hopeful. Its hard though, I've applied for lots and am not getting any responses.
Anyway, I'm happy to have a reason to hang out here more, hope you don't mind if I stop in every now and then.
What should we know about Baton Rouge before we move down, since we haven't actually been there yet!
Re: Finally Moving!
Hello & welcome!
1. Go eat at The Chimes. It's on the first block north of the LSU North Gates.
2. Get the blackened gator & boudin balls as an appetizer.
3. Report back.
Addition to Shoe's list:
4. Let us know when you go so we can have blackened gator and boudin balls, too.
Congrats on the move and welcome to BR.
This is legal advice. Circa 2011
Don't take the interstate during rush hour.
Make sure you get a lemonade from any Cane's.
Get a snoball
(anyone notice all of our suggestions deal with food - except the rush hour suggestion, which is a really good suggestion)
Fall = LSU and Saints football
Winter = Mardi Gras festivities
Spring = Festival season, Crawfish season
Summer = Pool/River/Lake
ditto all of these suggestions (thanks, Shoe - now I'm craving some Chimes). Cane's is really good too, though they have those all over now pretty much.
You'll be living in a good location, central to lots of fun stuff to do! Close to the Bluebonnet library too, which is a pretty good one.
So food and football. I can handle that
I use the library lots here in Raleigh so I'm glad the house is close to one.
Today is my last day of work, it's go time! I'll check in again when we get settled, until then everyone take care!
