The "Hail Mary" Plan
I had an appt this morning with the doctor to discuss trying IVF since the IUIs weren't successful.
I think this will be the last attempt to get pregnant for us. I'm losing my good insurance in a few months. DH's insurance will be ok for pregnancy and afterwards but doesn't have infertility benefits. The IVF would cost over $15K if we did it out of pocket. Even with insurance we will probaby be $3K out of pocket.
So starting June 26th I'll become a human pincushion again as the IVF requires a lot more shots than the IUIs did. Good thing I've become a pro shot giver.
Wish us luck!
Re: The "Hail Mary" Plan
Hopefully a more aggressive approach will bring the outcome you desire most. I know that jumping into IVF is a huge decision but once you get to a certain point, you just have to go all in.
Good luck my dear!
Did your IUI go ok?
The RE said we would do IVF w/ICIS (they isolate 1 sperm and inject it into an egg) which would give us the best chance. If there are two eggs that fertilize they will transfer them both. She said my right ovary is sitting way high so they may not be able to get to it to do retrieval but my left one looks fine. That will cut down on the number of eggs that they retrieve and probably won't allow us any extra to freeze.
I really never thought this would be a decision we would have to make but considering our options and desires it was pretty easy to make.
Tons of luck and Novembie vibes to you two! Wow-lots of kudos for being the 'pincushion'!
Tons of good luck, darlin'! I hope it works, let us know when the process begins so we can send all our good vibes your way!! (I mean the actual implantation process)
(Oops! sorry for the double post!)
It does increase our chances. Not a huge amount but hopefully enough for us to be successful.
Does your Dr. do them on a schedule or are you aware of how soon this all might happen?
Ditto! Lots of luck headed your way!
