What Do You Like to Do?

DH and I are in a "rut" lately as far as activities go in the IE. We went to the Wineries to change it up a little... but there is only so much pool and bowling you can do.

So what do you and your H enjoy doing locally on a weeknight, or a weekend?

Don't worry about tomorrow. After all, today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. Take each day as it comes...one at a time. Midnight Baking Adventures Blog

Re: What Do You Like to Do?

  • We have annual passes to Disney so if we have a free morning or evening we head over there.

I'd love to see what others post!

  • I always use this resource to find things to do, especially when we have guests:

     http://elsurfo.com/todo/casouth.htm

We don't have a very active nightlife due to having a young child, but we do enjoy going to museums/festivals/fairs, etc.  We live in downtown Riverside and will often walk around a lot, just looking at random things.

  • Dh is a social butterfly to the core, so he always wants to hang out with friends or family. Either BBQ, just dinner or watch "the game" with them. His family makes eating out an entire event or evening. They drive to the OC just to get lunch or dinner. Or like yesterday we went to Pick Up Sticks and the entire family just sat and talked for like 2 hours. DH plays in a church softball league as well. We are temporarily without Disneyland passes until Ivy comes and we will then renew.

So as for activities to do, I don't have much suggestion wise locally. If you wanted something to do on a weekend and are willing to drive you could go to the beach, Palm Springs Arial Tramway. We also like to go camping. You could hit up some of the museums like the Getty or Norton Simon. We have wanted to go to Huntington Gardens and the Richard Nixon library. There is always the option of a local farmers market, the OC swap meet or a picnic at a local park. Try taking a dance class or cooking class.

  • I dont have any suggestions since I'm not too much of a local but you can always do a "come visit noosh in OC day" Big Smile
  • Dh works weeknights so I usually don't do anything.  On the weekends, we usually head out to Disney, the beach, Hollywood for dinner.  We like to try different restaurants.  We don't go to movies since DH works in the industry and sees a lot of them before they are out.  We are mostly homebodies so staying at home and BBQing is fine with us most of the time.

And THAT is definitely a great idea :)

Mostly my issue is when we actually get time together, I am trying to avoid driving an hour or more to get where we're going. We have annual passes to Sea World (I know people will want to shoot me for this one- but I don't really like D-land, sorry Lori and Brandi :) )...and we go every couple of weeks, but sometimes we just want to do something locally- whether it is a Farmer's Market, movie, bowling, pool, wine, new restaurant, getting lost in Costco, etc...

You all have some awesome ideas and I might just have to make a list and add them all to my in-progress 101 in 1001 :)

  • oh my goodness, I think it's been so long I've forgot!

I know more than once we would have dinner at Maria's & head over to Fiesta for a round of miniture golf.

I wasn't a fan either but DH is and going with Sarah makes it all worthwhile.

  • Now that I think about it some more, one thing we've started doing is "Date Nights In". At some point we got bored of going out to dinner and dealing with crowds and servers but staying at home and vegging wasnt fun either. So instead we've decided that we'll try a new recipe that we've never had before and sit out on the patio instead at the dining room table. We dont use our patio as much as should but just the change of scenery and the excitement of trying a new recipe makes it a fun night and helps mix it up so its not just another boring stay at home night.

  • WE dont do mych of anything suring the week becasue DH has to  work so early in the morning and is tired. On the weekends we do alot of staying in and trying new recipes and such. We used to go to the music int he park when they have it as the weather gets nicer. You should check your local city hall for that. Take a little snack picnic maybe mix a couple cocktails in a thermos. Listen to some music on a blanket and just relax. We haev also developed game night with a few couples, Once in a whiel we all get together and play board games. It sounds cheesy but it is actually a total blast. ..
  • pre kids, we did the farmers market, walking around old town temecula. during the summer old town does hot summer nights. the parks have free movies.  Also trips to Barnes and Noble and walking around the outlets.
  • We haven't done much yet, but here our some of the ideas I have gathered:

-go to a local sports game (Storm)

-go to a community college performance (really close for you)

    -explore some city parks

-go to a comedy club (not sure if there is one close or not)

    - Visit the Santa Rose Plateau Ecological Reserve

    -Fly a kite (I'm a dork)

    -picnic in the park

-Murrieta's free concerts in the park are coming up

We have these COOL kites we found at Costco- I have a dragon and H has a plane... they are SO fun to fly too! :)

Storm is planned for next weekend!

Can't wait until concerts in the park!

Found out we can picnic at Wilson Creek winery... where we are now wine club members! Yay for wine tasting and picnics! :)
