Excited! Oak Island Rec's Needed
DH and I ended up finding a great deal on a beach house on Oak Island. The house was a bit over our budget, but it is our present to each other for our 5 year anny. So splurging is allowed right? We also figured we'll probably be able to find some friends to come down for a few days to help reduce the cost. Also, we were super excited that it has a fenced in yard for Rudy and the beaches are dog friendly!
Has anyone been down to Oak Island? Any must-do's or must-see's? We are bringing our bikes since it looks like they could be our main transportation while there.

Thanks for all of the information! We are getting so excited! I looked at Provisions' menu and was curious if there was anything in particular we should make sure to order!
Father in law has a beach house there so we are there all the time (got married there last month)....Frosty's is the ice cream shop! YUMMY!!
there is also leaki teaki and they also serve ice cream and sometimes have karaoke on the back patio deck. however, last month when we were there they weren't opened yet which is sorta odd b/c even some of the businesses open up on the weekends by then. found out they are under new ownership so not sure what they are doing with the place.
anyways, riding bike around is alot of fun. it is very quiet but we like it that way. if you like fishing, you can go down to the west end, great fishing spot. we like to fly kites....and this beach is awesome for that.
we don't eat out alot, usually just buy groceries and cook while we are there.
southport is very enjoyable. we like to go sit down there and watch the boats. sometimes if you sit long enough you will see dolphins come through.
