Re: House hunters
Ugh, I wish!!!
My old coworker and her husband were talking at Christmas about buying a vacation home in Tahoe and the only thing keeping them from doing so was the fact that they didn't want to have to buy supplies everytime they went!!! It must be nice to be able to afford two homes, let alone one in places like the Keys or Tahoe!!
I swear they've been doing more of the super expensive second homes lately! I recently saw an episode in Maui with a budget over 1 million.
Although I've pointed out to Shawn...even if we had that kind of money, I don't think I'd ever actually want to spend that much money on a house! There are so many other things that money could go to, you know?

I love house hunters and house hunters international.
When I see ppl spending that much money on vacation homes I really wonder what they do for a living. I know the price varies based on where you live too.
I've noticed lots of 2nd homes on that show lately too!
I have a theory - because the market is down, these super expensive homes are now at "bargain prices" of $1 mil or whatever, so the "rich" people are actually being economical by buying when they can get a "great deal."
Still crazy to me though.... that's a lot of money!! We've been doing so many loans at work for 2nd homes and investment properties. I did a loan a few months ago for a guy living in a suburb of Atlanta making $3 million/year! He's a plastic surgeon with his own practice, but had other sources of income as well.
I wonder what they do for a living too. It is crazy about house prices. I noticed on the west and east coast houses are so much more expensive and you get less house. In the southern area for the same price you spend on the east or west coast you can get such a big house for that price.
bev...3 million a year?? my word i could not imagine making that much!
yeah i like the show and i tend to agree with bev that since the housing market is down these people are getting a great deal on a house.
Yep! Makes me wonder why they even have a mortgage! I know a lot of people like to hold onto at least a small mortgage just for the write off, but I'd much rather have a paid for house with no monthly mortgage obligation. I know both sides are highly debated though haha.
that is what i was thinking i am not sure i would have a mortage if i made that much a year. i have a feeling i might buy everything i had outright. but i will never know.
off the subject...in college i dated a guy and he took care of a older man. and by taking care of i mean would take him to the doctor, store, church, cut his grass and he spent every night for supper there. it was actually very sweet and the guy just did it because he really liked spending time with the man. the older man never got married and did not really have any family. the older man died and left the ex with everything house, cars, boats and over 10 million (i dont remember the exact number). but the man lived very cheap and noone knew he had all this money. apparently he made his money on the railroad (i want to say they bought some of his land but i am not sure). sometimes i think if the guy had not been such a douche i might not have to be working now.
