Terrified Toddler

Last night we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. They are having a rib celebration (or something like that) so they had face painting for the kids, balloons and a giant armadillo mascot. We had no idea the event was taking place before we went there.

So we walk into the restaurant (Ben, Bri & I) and Brielle stops dead in her tracks. She saw the armadillo and would not budge. Ben picked her up and carried her to our table. We get our rolls and our drinks and everything is fine. Then the armadillo starts walking around the restaurant waving to kids, taking pictures with people, ect. He comes by our table & stops to wave at Bri. This causes her to FREAK OUT! He left but she insisted on getting out of her chair. She was shaking she was so scared. She kept watching to see where the armadillo was at. If he got anywhere near us she would shake with fear. :o(  By the time we left she stopped shaking everytime she saw it but she wouldn't eat and she wouldn't leave my side or Ben's side. I felt so bad for her. She did finally eat when we got home.

  • awww....poor tyke.
  • A man-size armadilla does sound rather terrifying.  Poor kid!
  • Awww! But I can see how a giant armadillo would be a bit scary for someone so young :(
  • Aww! Poor kid! Don't you wish you could read their minds sometimes?

Oh what she was thinking was written all over her face: WTH is THAT!?!?!?!!!

LOL! The manager even gave her a balloon and that didn't help. They told the person to stay away from our area but Brielle would look around the restaurant for it even though it was nowhere near us.

  • Awww mean old armadillo!

We saw that thing at a Griffins Game once, and Ben tensed up when it got too close.  Yet he loves Yo Gabba Gabba...weirdo LOL.

  • Oh the poor girl!   I can empathize with her.  When I was little I was petrified of mimes and Santa Claus. If I heard Santa's bell ringing in the mall at Christmas time I would break out into a cold sweat.   I still avoid mimes.

  • I can't help but giggle a little at this, but I totally understand her fear. The only "mascot" I'm somewhat okay with is Sparty, and even then I still get a bit creeped out. I don't know why. A giant armadillo sounds pretty scary though.

I will admit I did laugh a little too. This will be one of those stories she won't want me to tell when she's grown up. :o)
