has anyone had or been to a nestie get together?

I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF COUPLES REALLY DO HAVE THEM ON HERE. I HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY BUT I AM STILL KINDA NEW LOL! MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT HAVING ONE ONCE WE GET OUR HOUSE TOGETHER. I THINK IT WILL BE A GOOD WAY TO MEET NEW COUPLES AND HOPEFULLY LONG TIME FRIENDS!! WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD YOU HAVE ONE AT YOUR HOUSE?

Re: has anyone had or been to a nestie get together?

  •  As far as couples go - I haven't gone to any gtg's. I think there was a bowling excursion where spouses were welcome a few weeks ago, but I wasn't available for it so I didn't really pay attention. I've been invited to a few parties.

Ladies on the board do gtg for various meet-ups - book club, cookie swap - and general meet-ups on occasion.

Would I have one at my house? Probably not - my house is always under various stages of renovation due to a H that likes to have numerous projects going simultaneously and I wouldn't want to be judged. :)

PS. Usually using all caps in a post = yelling or emphasis of a specific point. When I opened this - my first thought was 'why is she yelling?'.

Me too! OP, please remove the all caps in future as it's confusing and generally considered unfriendly internet behavior. It might turn some people off. I know some of the ladies on the national boards will give you a very hard time over it if you wander onto their boards.

As for GTGs, I have gone to book club and GTGs with some of the Cincinnati Babies board ladies. I haven't done a couples thing but haven't seen many of them either.

I wouldn't be okay hosting at my home unless I had already met the Nesties coming.

  • I went to a Nestie gtg last year and it was just us girls (no couples).

As for having one at your house, that I'd be nervous about. Personally I wouldn't want a bunch of people that I don't know showing up and I wouldn't feel comfortable going to someones house that I don't really know that well. I feel like I 'know' alot of people on here, but I'd really only feel comfortable with maybe a handful of them at my house or going to their house.

I think it's a good thought, but maybe just misplaced.

  • Crawford had tried to do a bowling couples get-together several months ago when we realized many of us liked bowling.  In theory people were up for a couples bowling gtg but then once the date was picked there was like no resopnse.  I felt kind of bad :(.  We ended up having other plans so couldn't go...honestly I don't even think it happened.

I have gone to a knottie GTG that was all the ladies having drinks and dinner together but haven't gone to any since I crossed over Nest Side.  I had wanted to do the cookie swap but have been to lazy to drive down to KY where it's normally held :P.  I would, however, be open to having dinner and drinks or maybe a picnic with some nesties and their hubbies.  I agree it could be a great way to meet people.

As for the house thing, I personally wouldn't do it.  While there are some people on here that I do know IRL and others that I feel like I know well from chatting on here, the fact is that really we're still strangers.  Call me paranoid but I kind of don't like having strangers know where I live.

Separately, are you new to the area?  I'm not sure I've seen you around here (and if you have posted in the past and I missed it, forgive me!)  Tell us a bit about yourself!

  • My husband would never go to a Nestie get together.  I often think it would be fun for us ladies to get together for happy hour our something low key.

    I don't think I would ever host a GTG.

Did you want to be added to the book club Evite list?  If so just leave your email or send me a PM.

  • My husband would never, ever go to a GTG, not even for all the beer in the world.

I did try to organize one a few months back but it didn't happen after the date was set I had very few response. I would be up for going to a get together with couples or even just ladies.

    LOL

Ditto this-- However, I've been to a couple of Knottie GTG's,and I've always had a good time.  I wouldn't be willing to host it at my house, but meeting for Happy Hour someplace is always fun and easy ;-)
