Weight Watchers...

is anyone or has anyone done it? I'm thinking about joining online but I just wasn't sure. Thanks for your input :)

Re: Weight Watchers...

  • I am a ww member!  I started last summer and went from 250 and a size 20 to 190 and a size 12/14!  I stopped around wedding time and just maintained but I'm back on now for those last 20 pounds.

It is the BEST program.  And not just for weight loss.  It's really great at making a well-rounded diet and encouraging smarter choices while still allowing you to eat you favorite junk foods if you really want to.

    Good luck!

  • Totally agree with Ashleyanne.  About 6 years ago, I lost 40 pounds on the program.  Unfortunately, I gained all plus some back, but I did it before the wedding and lost 12.  My sister did it, lost the 15lbs of "baby weight" and looks great.

It really is an easy and safe program.  You learn to eat for the rest of your life, really.  I highly recommend it!!

  • I think we should have our own WW group on here.  I know there's a health and fitness board too, but I think we should get all the May girls who want to do it and have sort of a support WW group.  I'm already subscribed to the online program, but haven't been good about it since April, and I need some one to get me on track!  Who better to do that than the May nesties??

    Anyone want in?

  • I lost weight by counting calories and exercising. I've heard WW is a good resource though.

Becky-I'm all for it! I think if I have someone that is doing it with me, it will make it that much easier

  • I've used it in the past and find it works for me (i've been counting points on and off lately). Just by changing my eating habits I lost 20 lbs in about 4 months when I was really seriously into it.

I think it's great to help you learn portion control and what you should be eating. Those habits pretty much stuck for me. You also feel accountable when you have to weigh in every week and it's tracked.

  • I've never been on it, but everyone I know who has always lost weight.
Two souls but a single thought; Two hearts that beat as one image
  • i tried it before and wouldn't mind doing it again; i just can't afford to sign up for it right now but know how to track it all on my own. let me know if you guys start anything up.
  • I did it a few years ago and lost 60+ lbs. I liked it, but I learned enough I was able to just do it from home and not have to pay them for it. I think it's the best "diet" out there because you still eat real food and you learn real lessons that will help you when you're at home or eating out.

Same here. I had the best results when somebody photocopied the WW "core foods" list for me and I tried to eat mostly from that while counting calories and exercising. It helped whittle down my stomach. Whole grains instead of refined flour and rice can make a big difference!

I'm in.  I weigh in on Saturdays so I'll post updates then.  In the meantime, what we're eating and how we're manipulating points is good info =)  What about you ladies- are you going to be weighing in regularly?

  • I've never done WW before, nor can I afford to sign up right now, but I'd love to tag along on this group if I can!  I would really like to get to a nice healthy weight and if anyone has any good low-fat recipes or tips, this would be a great place to share!  Or any good workouts too :)  I have been trying to get out for a nice 5km walk a few times a week, and I definitely feel that burn the next day.  Lets do it ladies!!

I was just looking in to joining online so I am totally in!!!

  • If you join online, you'll get the full program.  The don't do "core foods" anymore... the "momentum" program is a little different.  It's still counting points and they have "filling foods", which are basically the same as core foods: low in points and keep you fuller longer.  If you're online and looking for "filling foods", they are the ones with green diamonds next to them.

    GL ladies!

  • Joining shouldn't be more than $50 or $55 for 3 months or something.  Look into it.  The online program is well worth it.  It's $17.95 each month after.  If you keep up with it, it's worth the time and money.

I know I learned a lot and you would think it would keep me on track, but I have such an weakness for food that I don't stay on track.  So I need discipline. :)

  • I have done it for years...I just started meeting again in October before the wedding to lose the last 10 lbs (lost over 20lbs before) and it would have stayed off but had to switch ups meds which made my weight change drastically. Now that I have that under control I will be starting again. I love going to the meeting because they keep me on track per se. I think it can be done on-line I just like the accountability of weighing in front of someone.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I would love to join a group if we have one. P.S. I also weigh in on Saturdays

  • Diver: I go to the meetings too.  I always have a good time checking in with the people/leader and it really does help keep me on track.  Plus, I always get great tips from the members at meetings like a new food find or ways to manipulate points =)

  • I just restarted. I lost 30 lbs in less than 6 months my first time around. I am hoping to stick with it and lose it all (and keep it off!) this time! I find that the meetings REALLY help!
