    I'm so sorry :(

I'm also drunk - I didn't get the job I was interviewing for.  We can be sad together!

I keep thinking "everything happens for a reason"...but it doesn't seem to be working. :(

  • ohhhh guys im sooo sorry!!!

  • Thanks girls. The principal met with everyone individually, so it's tough to know exactly whats going on. however, I do know that they are cutting 2 math teachers, and one is going to part time. HOWEVER it could be as much as 3 math teachers. But, I'm the first one out, so I'm gone either way.

English is losing 2, Social studies is losing 1, Art is losing 1, and Science isn't losing anyone.

Math got shaken up the hardest, which doesn't make sense to me. Everyone always says "math is the best thing to have, because they always need math teachers!"

The hardest thing was telling my students today. I told them they could get a hold of me through other teachers next year if they needed anything.

At least I can full heartedly look for jobs now without thinking that I might still be there next year.

It's crazy that they cut the most jobs in math!  It's one of the only real life skills they teach you in school that's actually useful.  And I'm a math hater! :)

You were coaching, right?  Do you think you can continue to do that - at least you won't have to say good bye to the kids forever...

Are you going to keep looking for teaching jobs?  Or try other fields?

Again, I'm so sorry this is happening. :(

  • I can still coach, but whether I want to or not depends on where I am next year. Right now I'm applying for a few jobs (in addition to the ones I've applied for already)...one is right next to the town we are moving, and the other two are about 50 minuets away.

If I am still coaching, I told my students that they can come to swim practice if they really need help on something.

lets just say that although there are some awesome teachers, some of the ones who "made the cut" aren't the best....

unfortunately it's all about seniority and tenure...which is stupid. There was a big to-do down here in GA because they were going to be doing cuts based on performance and not seniority. I thought it was a great idea because it kept the better teachers but the union was up in arms!
