anyone else already experiencing baby fever?

Or am I just going nuts?! I'm 24 and DH is 26, and before the wedding we said that we definitely wanted to wait at least 2 years before we start TTC... but now I can't stop thinking about it!

I know realistically that there are things we want to do before we have kids (get my masters, out of debt, travel more, etc)-- but all of those sensible, rational ideas fly completely out the window when I see a baby and go, "Ohhhhhh my gawww how cuuute??" It's taking over my brain... and then I start thinking, "Well, we have been together for almost 8 years... we've had enough time by ourselves!" haha

Re: anyone else already experiencing baby fever?

  • You are not alone my friend! We said we would wait a year and a half and now I'm thinking 6 mths max LOL.

  • I am at times, but other times I come to my senses and realize we are waiting for many many good reasons. Doesn't stop me from visiting with friends/family members and their babies, or sometimes lurking on the bump!

  • You're not alone!  We're trying now so we'll see what happens.  Keep us posted :)
  • I'm not just yet. We are thinking about waiting 2-3 years before we start trying. I have so much student loan debt that I would like to pay down before we add in baby expenses!

My older sister is trying to have her 2nd, so having a new niece or nephew will hold me over!

  • I thought so, for a while, but I think we're both good with being an aunt and uncle to a brand new baby right now! We're not ready, and want to enjoy some "just us" married time before we have a baby. Even though we've been together 6 years, It's going to be at least 3 years for us before we have one.
  • We aren't ready yet either.  I'm looking forward to being married alittle bit, we want to travel more and enjoy the house and such.
  • I'm... not really. HH and I want to be married for a couple of years and get our finances and his education/career a little more in order before we tackle the kids thing. I worry about putting it off, but it's the sensible thing to do, and we are sensible people. So I'm enjoying my last couple of years of not having a little person to worry about and take care of. :)
  • Ummm for the last like 3 years!!!! HAHAHA!  We really are trying to wait a year before we start TTC.  I don't think I could hold off that long but DH is good at making me stick to that kinda stuff.  We really do want to enjoy just being married for a year...

    We'll see... Wink

This is us. We have a 1 year old niece and another baby in our church to hold us over for now.

  • We don't know if we'll even have a kid at all. I don't really see the appeal..... I like dogs better than babies I think haha. :)

I'm right with you Hayley!  HH and I have no desire whatsoever to have children.  I don't have that "mommy" gene, I don't think and he coaches ninth grade football which makes him feel just fine without have kids!  haha Our fury four legged child is enough for us.  If it were to happen, though, then it's meant to be and we'd deal with it but I really haven't experienced baby fever...ever.

  • HH and I are both 23... I have baby fever BAD. We agreed we'd wait until I finished school... in 3 years...

  • Hmm...I'm not sure it's necessarily your typical "baby fever" here.  More like, 'I'm not getting any younger.  HH isn't either.  (He's older than me.)  We need to get on the ball before we either a) miss our chance, biological-clock speaking, or b) I decide this womb is closed."

As I already have 3 kids (10, 6 & 4) I really don't want to wait very much longer.  We're "ready" mentally.  We have a few things to work out before we're technically "ready" in other ways (space, money, etc.).

Waiting until all my ducks are in a row isn't really my style though, because I think no one is ever really truly READY for a turn-your-world-upside-down-milestone such as parenthood. :)

  • You are not alone. My DH and I are starting our masters this fall, and DH will be continuing on to his PhD. We decided to wait until we're both done with school, because financially, it's just not feasible to have a baby now, and DH thinks his PhD will take longer if we have a kid. But I've always wanted to be a mother. Seriously, I have been babysitting since I was 12, and I've been a nanny since I was 16. I love kids and have always wanted to be a mom. I want babies! lol. But none for me for 5-7 years. :(

This, I want a baby now... but I know I'm not ready yet!

  • DH and I both had it bad. ?We started TTC the wedding night and for our one month anniversary I was able to hand him a baby bib that said, "I love daddy!" and a digital pregnancy test that said, "Pregnant." ?His face lit up the way it did when he saw me walk down the aisle and it melted my heart!
