My DH is taking Lipitor (has been now for about 8 months) because he has really high cholesterol. I just now read the "patient advisory leaflet" and it says that Lipitor is not safe for pregnancy and to discuss with the doctor about taking 2 forms of birth control to prevent pregnancy. Is this something to worry about? We aren't on any birth control since last March. I chart and do fertility awareness method because we don't want kids for probably at least a year. Does that mean that if we accidently get pregnant now that the baby might be harmed, or does this only apply to women? Thanks for the help!
Re: Lipitor question
omg, LOL
Hilarious.
That warning only applies to women who are taking lipitor, not men.
Are you serious???
Are you on lipitor? If not, then you are fine. The verbage in the pamphlet is implying that if you're a woman of child-bearing age, you should discuss the possible side-effects with your doctor before starting lipitor. So unless your husband has a secret uterus, you're fine.
Doesn't it say this in the commercial on tv?
He if he has a secret ute- they will be jazillionaires!!!
lol!
zomg, what if the spermies are infected?!
I bow before your superior smartitude.
Is there something your husband is hiding from you? It only means if a woman is taking it.
I am not trying to be snarky but please dont reproduce...
"my DH is taking Lipitor"... and then ... "you read the 'patient advisory leaflet'"...
So... your DH would be the patient in this scenario, since he is the one taking the Lipitor, correct? And is he in any danger of becoming pregnant?
::waiting for the light bulb to go off::
It's actually because it's rated a Category X drug (absolutely contraindicated for pregnancy), so if the woman is taking it, she should double up on BC so as to further reduce the risk of becoming pregnant and harming their spawn.

But at least it will lower your cholesterol in the process.
