I own a house in Canton and commute to downtown Atlanta. I would like a shorter commute! I have no idea what area to consider, as we want to be close in with a small budget and good public schools. Here is what we are looking for:
3 bed 2.5 bath or larger, townhome or single family home (not condo because we have dogs and need some type of small back yard). We really don't want to spend more than $275,000.
Good elementary and middle school. Good high school would be nice, but it will be a long time until we have kids that age and we could move before then.
I really don't want to commute more than 30 minutes to downtown. DH works from home, so we only need to worry about my commute.
Am I crazy to think it's possible to find something with all of this criteria? If not, what areas should we consider?
Re: Help! Where to live in metro Atl?
you should prob post this to the ATL Baby board because I can rec good areas, but I have no clue about the schools within!
for a sub-30 min commute I'd go to Smynings, Sandy Springs or the Perimeter area (those are my 1st choices) or the Va Highlands / Midtown Ansley/Inman/Candler Parks areas. < ---- again, I don't know about the schools for those areas, though!
Call me Kat =^..^=
The elementary schools you want to look at are:
Warren T. Jackson
Morris Brandon
Sarah Smith
Mary Lin
E. Rivers
The middle schools are:
Sutton
Inman
THANKS!!
Buckhead is nice (Sarah Smith Elem.). I used to be a nanny to a few kids that went to school there.
I really love Vinings and Marietta for location. Vinings is 10 minutes from downtown, and Marietta is a little farther out, but you are getting into the awesome Cobb County School District. I'm looking for a home there in the Walton or Wheeler High school district. Timber RIdge Elementary is highly regarded as well. If you want your kids to be involved in sports, Cobb has a lot to offer.
