i've been seeing lots of daycare costs mentioned on MM lately. just wondering..what's the cost of daycare in your area?
Re: daycare costs
around $1000 per month for one child
from what i've heard from sil and friends, they usually give a slight discount once you have a 2nd kid in the same daycare..like maybe 10% off
I've been looking into this for Lucie and it seems that they vary significantly around here, but it might be that outside of Sacramento there are other smaller "richer" towns and the daycare there seems to be higher.
In Sacramento itself, they seem to be between $600-$800 a month, 1 child, full-time. Where we live and where DHworks it's $1,000+ a month. There's a daycare at his company and it's $1,400 a month!!!
My brother pays $1,200 a month for his son.
It's crazy... this is why I really hope we only have to put Lucie in PT if MIL does a day and I can do a day from home - we may be able to get it down to about $500.
We pa 250 per week for Emmy. There is a 20% discount on the second child but it will still be close to 450 for them to go 5 days a week!
We are hoping MIL will take them 2 days a week. (crosses fingers)
Then it would only be about what we are paying now for both to go three days
Baby #2 - D&E - 10/1/10 @ 19w2d - thanatophoric dysplasia confirmed.
Charlotte Lillian will be forever in our hearts.
Baby #3 - Little Bean - natural miscarriage - 1/17/11 @ 5w5d
In-home daycare is the way to go around here - if you can get in!
A good friend of mine has an in-home daycare, and she stays full. You have to get on her waiting list as soon as you find out you are pg. I'm not sure what she charges, but I know others in the area charge about $100-$120 per week.
Regular daycare is $135 - $180 per week around here.
I pay $60/month for a babysitter one day a week.
$15-$20/day is the norm in my area for babysitters with daily rates
When #2 gets here, we may be switching though. A friend was telling me about her babysitter, who used to be a daycare worker/teacher, and she charges $40/week for PT (2 or 3 days). That's a good deal!
