s/o daycares

one of my friends has a little girl in a daycare..it's around $1000 a month. she's pg w/ baby #2 now...when she hits 6 months pg they'll have to start paying tuition for baby #2 to hold her spot at the daycare. so they'll be paying $1800 a month starting in a few weeks just to guarantee she has a spot.

I can understand a deposit of some sort...but out right paying as if the baby were already in the daycare is just kind of ridiculous!

i pray i can sah. i will go psycho on these people trying to suck folks dry to watch their kids.

Re: s/o daycares

  • I never heard that but then again I don't know anyone that uses daycare. Daycares know they got you under a barrel because they know that people have to have daycare and so they can charge a lot.

If I was you I would start putting money aside each month, if possible, so that if you do have to use daycare you will have some money and not have to worry a whole lot in the beginning about paying for it.

  • we had to put a deposit down but it was only 100 bucks. That is just crazy.

There is also something called a Dependant Care Account. It is similar to a Medical flexible spending account where you can put money away pretax to use for daycare. I am going to do that next year. Only thing that stinks is that there is a cap of 5K for the year and unfortunately day care is much more expensive than that!

  • i think putting 1 in day care is financially reasonable (for me) but i didnt really think about the whole 2nd kid and it costing more. i dont really know what i will want to do when we have kids - i think we'll be financially ok for me to sah but i might want to work at least PT but who the heck knows... thinking that it's $2000/mo to put 2 kids in would almost be my paycheck so in that case it wouldnt be worth it i dont think!
