seeing alix's comment in jaime's thread below gave me an idea - let's post some pip's of our favorite shoes! the ones you wear the most often, the ones you love but are impractical, the ones you lust after, ...whatever you want!
and alix, you get a special request, let's see your collection of impractical shoes! or at least some of them, pretty please? i want to live vicariously through you
i LOVE shoes, even worked at shoe stores from when i turned 16 until i went to college, but can't bring myself to buy impractical ones, b/c there is absolutely no opportunity for me to wear them, living in seattle and working at a tech company. the shoes i see at work every day is depressing. it's times like this i miss my old job (working on endless!) - i went from looking at shoes and handbags every day, to...well, not. and i haven't been shopping in so long, i'm rusty. need to get my shoe mojo back (or something).
so, who want to play? let's see some shoes!
Re: poll - let's see some shoe pips!
I *love* shoes. My all-time favorite shoes is a pair of black platform wedges from Steve Madden, but they broke and I was never able to find a replacement again.
So...my still-wearable favorite shoes of all time is this one from Guess:
It's sooo comfortable (but I may be "biased" because I've worn heels for so long that it hurts my knees to wear flats...until I forced myself to get used to it during pg). I wear it anywhere from work to parties to dinners to hanging out with my friends to class (when I was in grad school) to the supermarket =P It takes about a week to break in though since it's a man-made upper so it's a bit stiff in the beginning, but after that, it's super comfortable. I love it so much that I have two pairs
My favorite shoes while pg are my Armani Exchange wedge flip flops, but I can't find a pic of it online...so oh well =P
Let's see...shoes that I wear all the time (black Diana Ferrari Supersoft ballet flats - not these, but similar):
Shoes that I love but are hideously uncomfortable (Steve Madden Dreamin in red patent leather):
Shoes that I'm ashamed to want (I HATE Uggs but it's freaking freezing here and they'd be great to wear inside the house):
Shoes that I want just because (Ralph Lauren Sahara Vachetta Riding Boot):
Shoes that I could never pull off but I think are stunning in a kind of fierce, architectural way (Jimmy Choo Embellished Ankle-Wrap Sandals):
hahahah after jamie's post i was so going to start a shoe pip you must have read my mind. but have been soooo busy.
today i am wearing
I will have to take some pictures when I go home tonight of my other shoes. In fact i just got the most fabulous electric blue sued and snake skin shoes with a nice 4 inch heel-if i must say myself they are super fierce....
ooh, maybe we can have a daily "what is alix wearing today" post. haha - j/k (but i would enjoy it!)
okay, i've been neglecting answering my own poll - posted it while on the airplane yesterday, and then my laptop battery died. trying to recover from my day trip to nyc - spent more time on planes than i did actually there - not fun. will be back later today, hopefully, with some actual photos...
I need a PIP, stat!
I'm so boring and no fun at all when it comes to shoes! I'm 5'11", and while I realize that I could wear high heels, I never did when I was younger (I hated how tall I was then), and therefore I am not used to them at all now. I have tons of shoes, but usually only end up wearing the boring/comfy/good arch support black ones. But I'll play anyway!
Everyday/running around wear in summer:
Everyday wear at work:
This is about as sassy as I get!:
(mine are a little bit different....they do have about a 1 1/2" cork wedge heel)
I know, I know! Mine are pretty boring!
I have to wear practical boring shoes out of necessity. Many places I walk at work are not paved so flats are necessary.
today (not embarassed to admit I wear birkenstocks):
my daily "dress up" shoes -
something like this (w/ no buckle)
or this:
I have come to learn that no matter what shoe I get they will get trashed from walking on gravel. If I have an all day meeting out of town I often break out my nice heels and remember the days that I use to have lots of use for them.
sometimes I even have to wear waterproof hikers or rain boots (mine are purple with gold Ws - bought at the college bookstore, haha) to work for property walks.
I can't find a picture online but my one and only recent splurge was a really pretty pair of frye boots with a one color embroidered floral pattern. (they are the vintage style - kind of like their harness/buckle ones, not cowboy)
okay, here's what i have on today:
pink, and suede - very impractical for seattle rain, but i bought them anyway. i actually wear them a lot. ...i like pink - and they go with everything! haha. i also have a pair of olive green pumas that i wear a lot (can't find a picture right now). (not that i'm necessarily a huge puma fan - but after i stopped wearing heels and now put about 30s of effort into my appearance every day, these are my go-to shoes)
in the summer, i pretty much live in these when i'm not at work - but mine are a light green. i also bought a light blue pair as backup for when i need to toss my green ones
(speaking of which i should probably toss them, they're pretty sad looking)
...i tried to find some of my other favorites (that i don't wear all the time, now that i dress so erm, casually...) but they're so old, i can't find photos online!
I have a pair of birkenstocks! I got them when I was at college. When you're standing on your feet for 12 hours a day at an easel, you need something really comfy with good support. I didn't care how unfashionable they were lol!
