sorry mel, i just had to steal your idea for "my big announcement"
remember when i was contemplating if we would go to hong kong or philippines for labor day?? well, we decided neither - we're going to beijing!
we booked our trip today. the travel agency on base has a special going right now that's all inclusive 4 days/3 nights. includes our airfare, hotel, all of our meals (including a chinese acrobatics dinner show!), transportation w/ an english speaking tour guide who has no more than 10-15 people in each tour group, going to a ton of places - Forbidden City, Emperor?s Castle, Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square, Ming Tombs, and.... THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA!!!!!!!!!!! HOW COOL!

ETA: How cool to go to China?!?! Can't wait to see those pics! We're going to Germany to meet up with the ILs who will be there to see the Passion Play in Oberamergau (sp?). I would love to see that but you have to get tickets a year in advance we we're meeting them the day after.
