My AHR is next weekend so FI and I are going out to buy all the alcohol this weekend. I don't often entertain for large crowds....does anyone have a good rule of thumb to figure out how much beer, wine, and soda to buy? I've had a grand total of two frigging people RSVP so my best guess is we'll be expecting 50 people? That's a generous guess.
Re: Alcohol...
Two people RSVP'd. Wow. That sucks. This is an alcohol calculator from evite.
No suggestions here, but that is an awesome tool! Bookmarked!
Another thing to keep in mind is that most liquor stores will let you return any unopened bottles of hard alcohol and wine and any cases or six packs of beer.
I wish I knew about that calculator a year ago, lol!
We guessed with our AHR and ended up with a lot of left over beer (we got a keg), not enough gin (I had no idea our families drank that), and not enough tonic. I think part of the reason we ran out of gin was because our bartenders were making really strong drinks. Oh, and we didn't buy wine considering we were having mexican food and got b!tched out by MIL and SIL for not having any.
When I went to the liquor store I also got some help from the manager as to what to buy, since we aren't really drinkers ourselves.
