Enlighten me...

What do the star ratings at the top of posts do? Anything?

What's with the "points"... do they reflect your star ratings?

The Nest, you are a strange, foreign land... Stick out tongue

Re: Enlighten me...

  • I'm not sure. There is so much on this site that I don't understand!
  • If you place your mouse over it, it tells you want it means. the star means a popular post, the dark green rectangle means you haven't read it, and the light green means you have read it

  • I think the stars at the top of each post are a rating for the post. They may affect the poster's rating (the rectangles under your user name). As for the points...I am still trying to figure that one out!

I wonder if they're like those blue balls (ha!) that they used to have on the knot, where you pretty much had to have a million posts before you got one.

yeah, the squares under your name require about a million posts before you get one.  the points increase as you post, but i'm pretty sure they serve no purpose.  the ratings (5 star or whatever) at the top of posts are how other people have rated your post. if you mouse-over them, it will tell you the average rating based on however many people rated the post.
