I'm baaaacccckkkkk!

We got back from Ireland this afternoon instead of yesterday.  Our left engine failed over the Atlantic so we got rerouted to an Air Force base in Newfoundland (or Labrador to be specific) for about 6 hours.  The rest of the return trip has been an absolute nightmare to say the least.

On top of all that I came home to see that my BIL's gf had posted updates on our flights all over facebook.  Her and I will be having a come to Jesus talk later tonite over it.

Other than that we had an absolute blast and I can't wait to go back!

  • HOLY CRAP!!!  ENGINE FAILURE OVER THE ATLANTIC?!?!?!  Scary, but glad you are home safe and that you had an awesome time besides the trip home!
  • I'm not so sure I like the sounds of this whole engine failure thing . . . sounds freaky!  So glad to hear your home safe!

    Tell us all about Ireland!!!!!!!!!!!!

And seriously . . . how retarded is that chick?  Drama queen much?

  • Glad you had a good time!  There's nothing worse than travel troubles on the way home.

  • YAY! Glad you are back.  poo-poo on the BiL's GF!
  • Ireland was awesome.  We had exceptional weather - a couple days pushed 80 which is a rarity for them and it only rained on us one day for 5 minutes.

We landed in Shannon on Saturday and spent the day getting situated and finding the grocery store.

Sunday - we went to the Aran Island Inis Mor.  You have to take a 45 minute ferry ride in the atlantic - which have I ever mentioned I HATE boats? I began drinking at 1030 that morning.

Mon/Tues. we spent in Dublin.  We walked our *sses off there.  We saw the Guinness storehouse, did some shopping, went on a musical pub crawl which turned out to be awful, walked through St Stephens Green - they used to do public executions there now it's just a really pretty park.

Tues -St Patricks Cathedral where we got to listen to the boys choir for about 20 minutes - just to hear somewhat of a service in a church that old made the history geek in me excited.  Then it was on to Trim Castle - they used this castle to film Braveheart and then headed to the Hill of Tara

Wed - we went to Bunratty.  Had lunch and drinks at Durty Nellys which is reportedly the oldest running bar in Ireland.  Did somemore shopping had more drinks at another pub and then went to the Bunratty Castle banquet.

thurs - low key day. stuck around the cottage for the morning packing and cleaning up since we were leaving the next day.  Then drove out to Mountshannon and went to Holy Island.  Then went to dinner and drank more lovely guinness and smithwicks.

Friday we left and began the unexpectedly long trip home.

Sorry for the short novel! lol!  Some pictures are up on fb.  I will add more over the next couple days!

  • Everything except the trip home sounds awesome!!! I'm glad you made it back safely, and I'm hoping to see you in just over a month, when I hit NY!
  • Wow!!! I'd be freaking out if that were my plane!!! I'm so glad you're back safe and sound!

Sounds like an awesome trip, though!
And POO on BIL's GF for doing that!  I usually say when we come back vs. when we're going on FB... She needs to be beat the F-up.

  • Uh I am so jealous, I have wanted to go to  Ireland for so long.  Sucks that your plane had troubles, I would have had a small freak out.

  • Sounds like a fantastic vacation other than the way home. Glad you had a blast. I can't wait to checkout the pics!
  • I've worked around aircraft long enough to know that there is so much redundancy built in that until the pilot says brace for impact I'm not overly concerned! lol

oh and all I got out the gf was a weak sorry.  The fb thing was just the tip of the iceberg of the things she did.  I will save that for ff though!
