What are your goals for the next year? Save money, lose weight, get KTFU, move, buy a house, buy a car, learn a new skill, travel?
Re: Goals?
KTFU... I like that. Let's see, for the next year, there are some house projects I want to get done. Want to tile the floors in the kitchen and both bathrooms. Build a shed for the backyard (well, Adam will build it... I will supervise and be beer wench). We also need to widen our driveway.
I'd like to see what other job options are available within the government. I mean, I love my job most days, but the job I'm doing now doesn't exactly make good use of my college degree.
I would LOVE to travel some more, but since I have negative vacation hours right now because of the HM, I doubt that will happen any time soon.
Pay down a chunk of our debt while still saving up for a new car & house someday.
Get Matty into grad school and keep him there. LOL I am afraid to point out that he has to take the GRE to get into the one program he's considering... he's terrified of tests.
Avoid getting knocked up.
Host Thanksgiving dinner for his side.
How fun! Tiling our floors is definitely on the agenda, but that won't be until Brandon's working again. We are so stoked since ALL of his income will be saving/fun money! We are going to tile all 3 bathrooms, the kitchen, the showers, put in granite counter tops, all kinds of fun stuff
Since we live in a development where the houses are all pretty
much the same, cool upgrades like that will definitely give us an edge
when we try to sell. But we plan on living there a long time, so we'll
have a long time to enjoy it all
We are going to do a lot to our
backyard too, I'm super excited for that!
Goals... in timeline order
-Get a job (ASAP!)
-FI graduate (December)
-FI get a job
-Buy a house next spring
now let's pray that it all works out!
By this time next year? Here's mine:
Get a bigger house
Get back into school this fall
Run 5k
Lose 40#
Run 1/2 marathon
Get KTFU
Married May 1st, 2010
Here are some of my goals...
-Finish grad school (done in December)
-Save money so we can buy a house (we want to buy a house after I graduate and get a job because I have no idea if I'm going to work in New York or New Jersey)
-Travel... I would like to go one long weekend trips around the Northeast, and we also want to plan a big vacation next May to celebrate our one year anniversary, my birthday, and my graduation
- Start saving money so we can move soon. FI will be finished with his second degree and looking for a better job in his field.
- I want to get back into the animal field. Right now, I'm at a coffee shop PT just to help pay the bills. I miss zookeeping so badly! Now that my knee is all healed, I can pursue things in this field again.
- Buy a new car! My old clunker is 20 years old.. it needs... a new one. lol
within the month: finish our house and FINALLY move in!
within the year: maybe/maybe not get pregnant; we're not trying but we're not preventing it either
within the next two years: lower our (my) debt (90% school loans)
- take the GRE (next friday....ack)
- finish TY notes
- paint the inside of the house
- tear up the dying bushes in front of the house and replant something
- start grad school in the spring (hopefully)
- get KTFU
You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."

::My Married Blog!::
-get KTFU
-finish 2to5K
-empty out the room downstairs with all the random boxes from the moved (in december)
Get KTFU...or at least have fun trying!
Would like to redo all the yard work, with the wedding and everything we did not have the time or money to invest in it this year. We moved into our house last Feb and it was remodled before selling so eventually I would like to redo the bathroom and carpet upstairs.
DH to find steady work
Lose 30#
Save money to buy a house
Pay down debt
Not get KTFU
Take a real honeymoon
Finish our basement - right now it's insulated only, so it needs EVERYTHING, right up from drywall
We want to put in a wet bar, bathroom, possibly a small bedroom or office (already have four bedrooms and office, but figure it can't hurt) with the remaining space being a "man's den" as HH likes to call it.
Travel! Between our honeymoon and a few destination weddings, as well as some long weekends down the Eastern Seaboard, we hope to do a lot of travelling this year.
Get KTFU! haha love this one
- not get KTFU
- pay down the little debt we have
- get a better job
- find a better place to live (we aren't ready to buy a house yet)
- visit out of state friends
bio
I would like to travel this year with H and go on a real honeymoon. He is afraid of planes (early in his career he had to regularly fly over the Rockies in one of those small planes).
I am going to Africa at the end of September to help build a school. We have been raising money for 5 years to build it, so it will be rewarding to finally do it.
I finished my first 10k race the weekend after the wedding, and want to get into running more. I'd like to run a half marathon.
I am writing two books right now, so I want to finish those.
H and I want to do some landscaping to spruce up our house.
Advance in my career a bit more so that I will get a nicer maternity leave package.
to get KTFU
lose 15lbs
pay down debt
HH to get a job before end of year!!
I've heard it's best to lose weight before getting KTFU, that way you are in a healthier place, so you are more likely to make healthy choices and not gain too much weight during your pregnancy, and also your body will lose the weight easier post-pregnancy! Very interesting. Just thought I'd pass that along
good luck to everyone with their goals for the upcoming year!
