AW and Pbffft

So, J's car was about to die.  It's a 96 Honda Civic with 240,000 miles on it.  The transmission was giving out.  It wouldn't go back into first after it went to second.  Not the safest vehicle for him to be driving Scarlett around in.

So for Father's Day, he wanted a new car.  He scoured the Autotrader and  found a gorgeous 2003 Lincoln Navigator with 75K miles on it.  Never been in an accident.  The interior looks nearly perfect (maybe a scratch or two in the back seat area).  I can't believe all the cool features it has.  A cooler in the middle row.  The third row of seats lowers with the touch of a button.  White isn't my first color choice, but it looks pretty sharp.  It barely fits in the garage and makes my Escape look like a Mini Cooper.  We got it for only $15K!  Definitely the nicest car either of us ever had by far.  We were going to trade in the Civic, but for $100...we decided to sell it ourselves.  LOL.

So, we get it home and eventually figure out how to install the car seat.  In the process, we discover that the passenger seat has a broken back/forth adjuster.  Whatever.  It's in a good spot.  We decide to pile in as a family and go get dinner.  J realizes the shifter is a bit loose and pulls it up - It TOTALLY disengaged!  The car was stuck in Drive.  He couldn't put it in park or take the key out!!!

His cousin came over and they figured out how to take the shifter apart and get it in park.  They got the key out.  Now it's driveable, but he's taking it back on Monday - when the service area is open - to have it repaired.

I'm sure it's a small thing to fix - probably just need to get a spring and a screw back in place.  But I CAN'T BELIEVE something went wrong with it already!
