I drove past a "Pet Spa" the other day, and was wondering how many people actually go to those lengths to pamper their pets! So here's a quick poll for all of the animal lovers on this board:
Do you buy "special" food or treats for your pet? (Organic/holistic/homemade etc.)
Have you ever taken your pet to a "spa" for anything other than grooming?
Does your pet have its own furniture? (not counting crate or bed)
Do you accessorize your pet?
Re: Pet Poll
I'll go first -
Do you buy "special" food or treats for your pet? (Organic/holistic/homemade etc.) We get Boston Canidae all-natural dog food, but it is actually cheaper than some of the bigger brands. We don't give him many treats, so it's usually whatever is on sale. He's not picky. ;-)
Have you ever taken your pet to a "spa" for anything other than grooming? Once we had his teeth brushed, but his breath till smelled like death so we haven't tried that again.
Does your pet have its own furniture? (not counting crate or bed) Nope, just a big foam bed that he sleeps in next to ours.
Do you accessorize your pet? I try to get cute collars for him, but it's hard to find nice ones for big doggies (100+ lbs). I did just buy a Doodie Pack (www.doodiepack.com) for him, and he seems to like that. I haven't ever tried to put clothes on him, though.Haha, I may be guilty!
Do you buy "special" food or treats for your pet? Yes...our female (who we got first) eats Blue Buffalo. As first time pet parents, we researched the "best" of everything. She has been in fab health so we just keep it up. Our male dog requires a special diet from the vet due to urine Ph problems. The funny part is, both foods cost about the same, so we figure it is a wash.
Have you ever taken your pet to a "spa" for anything other than grooming? no
Does your pet have its own furniture? (not counting crate or bed) LOL yes...all of it! DH was just saying how much it bugs him that our dogs enjoy our nice furniture more than we do. Our female would lay on our bed full-time if we let her.
Do you accessorize your pet? They have Christmas gear and sweaters, but they were all gifts from my gram. I did buy our male a Red Sox collar since his name is Fenway. Overall, I am against dogs wearing clothes for my pets, but I do snicker when I see others doing it.
Do you buy "special" food or treats for your pet? Not really. She gets a few treats on occasion. If you can't tell by the pic, she's pretty fat. We have her on food that is designed for indoor cats since they tend to have weight problems more than outdoor cats.
Have you ever taken your pet to a "spa" for anything other than grooming? No. The vet once a year is about as exciting as it gets for her.
Does your pet have its own furniture? (not counting crate or bed) Not really furniture. But she loves boxes. She has a few laying around the house just for her and even one on the couch in-between DH and I. I spend $25 on a bed for her but no, she wants the free boxes that DH gets from work instead. Traitor. ;o)
Do you accessorize your pet? Nah. Cat's don't look as cute as dogs do when you get them all dressed up.
Have you ever taken your pet to a "spa" for anything other than grooming? no, parrots clean themselves by preening. My little green cheek Maddie has a deformed beak due to an accident, so she does need to go to the vet to get her beak trimmed, because of the way her injury was, she can't grind her beak down herself anymore.
Does your pet have its own furniture? (not counting crate or bed) They both have cages. When they are out they just hang out on the back of chairs or with me. I would like to get them a really cool climbing parrot tree toy one day when we live in a place with more room.
Do you accessorize your pet? Nah, you can't really accessorize parrots, but they both have some really awesome looking toys!
I drove past a "Pet Spa" the other day, and was wondering how many people actually go to those lengths to pamper their pets! So here's a quick poll for all of the animal lovers on this board:
Do you buy "special" food or treats for your pet? (Organic/holistic/homemade etc.) We feed Baxter Wellness, we may switch to Blue Buffalo in a year or so, but we do like the wellness. We also buy the Natures Diet "meat logs", think really giant summer sausage. He really loves that.
Have you ever taken your pet to a "spa" for anything other than grooming? nope, and we don't even take him in for grooming, we bath him at home, and trim his nails as well. He has short hair so no need for him to get trimmed.
Does your pet have its own furniture? (not counting crate or bed) He has taken over a chair in the other living room right in front of the big window. We do now put fleece on it to help keep the chair semi clean. Other than that just his beds and crate.
Do you accessorize your pet? not really. We bought him a coat this winter to wear on long walks when it is really cold/too dark. He loves being out in the snow but we worry that he is going to get too cold on the long walks. Plus it has reflective strips. I would like to get him a pack for hiking at some point since we do want to take him with us.

Have you ever taken your pet to a "spa" for anything other than grooming? No, I've never even taken her anywhere for grooming.
Does your pet have its own furniture? (not counting crate or bed) Nope. She is allowed on our furniture though.
Do you accessorize your pet? She has a few "outfits." But, they all have practical purposes. One is fleece lined and waterproof so she can go out the in rain/snow and not get soaked. And, we noticed as she got older, she has a harder time regulating her body temperature in the winter. She's very skinny, so very little fat to keep her warm and she'd be shivering all the time. So, we got a few sweaters/fleece "shirts" for her. She has a doggie snuggie and it's so cute and keeps her warm!

Have you ever taken your pet to a "spa" for anything other than grooming? Nope- she's a low maintenance dog!

Do you accessorize your pet?
Nope
